Never have found them more useful than photo reference or 3d models. If you need a better grasp on a pose you're drawing, act it out yourself and/or take photos of yourself with a webcam.

it's not a good reference for copying 1:1, it might come handy for gestures, action poses, perspective or extremre POVs, lighting setups, etc

I use random stuff to make trim lights, so I can provide myself my own references
