I think I see what you're saying, especially on bottom cat. Any tips to avoid that besides just practice?
My escape from this corporate hell broskies. Never should've went into IT. I also wish i had some kind of imagination rather than just reference drawings.
I really, really can't seem to get rid of this line petting habit.
I'm currently tryimg to gain more confidence in my lines by speed drawing but all it dors is exaust my hand and lose stability.
I am able to keep the proportion better though due to not focusing on one singular body part too much.
I doubt I'll ever have one of those Wes Burt-tier sketchbooks. Maybe one day if I get really good with graphite...

Dynamic Figure drawing 17.p
Face
>>2605120
I think what he says makes no sense and sounds coming from someone who just read limus or watched a proko video
What makes your drawing a bit flat is that there's too much white in a very tiny range of value, pure white is used for stuff emitting or reflecting light (like the eyes), I'm pretty sure eyes or teeth are more shiny than skin. That's it
Even then I still think those are very good studies, love Beerus btw
>>2605129
try drawing in straight up pen. If you watch peter hans dynamic sketching. it'll help you with line confidence. Drawing with a felt tip is less forgiving one you start petting your lines. It forces you to think ahead and make the lines you put down count
I prefer pen over pencil
>>2605120
Regarding line weight:
Vary the line weight with a purpose. You can use it to denote distance or value for example. Darken where your values go to dark; or lighten as the form is farther from the viewer (two separate approaches). It is important to maintain consistency in this regard or the illusion is weakened.
What you don't want is random or constant weighting.
Regarding value range:
Increase overall contrast.
Decide which the darkest and lightest areas are. Denote these with the appropriate value. All other values should be derived relatively from these baselines.
Initially, look at the subject holistically. Mentally simplify the forms and light sourcing. Make sure your creation consistently reinforces these properties.
I doodled this last night while waiting for a table at some Ramen shop.
>>2605122
I feel your IT land struggles. That being said. Draw from some life. Stap with the animeszz. Work more with value.

Nah, It's King from Tekken, sorry to dissapoint.
But chin up, I know very well who Masked Tiger is, you actually made my realize that King is probably inspired from Masked Tiger, the resemblance is too big to ignore now.
And yeah line petting is exactly that. When you feel like your line isn't good or not stable enough you tend to "do-over it" gently to fix it.
It's okay for a sketch but it completely fucks with any serious drawing because it's frankly just a terrible habit to get rid of.
I need to start workin on these more.

Tonights figure drawings
>>2611879
You should spend time setting up the drawing before you shade it. Mark major points on the body to get your proportions right, make sure things line up. As for your shading, the lines are nice but you're not giving yourself enough value range to get a solid overall range of values. Also your lines look messy/lazy sometimes
>>2611885
My proportions are normally fine actually. As seen in tge one minute poses on the right. But my mentor recommended I try to focus more on shape and value rather than line but that's sort of hard to do when these are literally five and ten minute drawings.
With more time I could start getting into tonal differences but given the amount of time I have this is as far as my ability can take me right now.
>>2611885
Oh and I agree with everything you said btw. This is just a new way to draw right now so I'm having a hard time adjusting. But I'll iron it out with more practice.

wooo now that's the kind of answer I enjoy. they're all from imagination too. here is my newest stiffy shit, hope you enjoy.
>>2614393
I do everything from scratch and imagination, that's probably why it's more anatomical than just life drawings, thus "stiffer" I guess.
>>2614400
I'm not saying your stuff ISN'T from imagination. I meant your imagination isn't imaginative. IE: it's boring.
Stay mad at criticism, though. lol
Maybe try actually FINISHING something, with color and posting it.
Until then, all your stuff is the same nonsense. Boring, unfinished line art.
>>2614402

>>2614415

>>2614402
of course it's gonna be boring, it's plain fucking practice. as for full color illustrations I don't feel like i've mastered all the fundamentals yet to try it, I will soon but right now I'm focusing on anatomy until I master it. the only color stuff I do is for work and not intented to be shared. I'm not mad at criticism at all, actually I welcome it when it's good, I just ignore it when it's coming from the same shitposter everytime I post something. If anyone is mad here, it would be you, I mean you just said it yourself after all.
also pic related is maybe imaginative enough for you ? maybe not, though it's just experimentation after all. it's time to get off my dick senpai. it's been a long ride.
>>2614440
far right and far left are the best i've seen from your stuff. STAY ON THAT PATH. Your men are just...i dont know. incorporate that feel of those 2 characters in your men.

You said "I won't go on until I've mastered anatomy" the only person I can think of on the top of my head who has mastered anatomy would villpu. You're saying you won't move on with your art until you're 70 years old?
You're so full of yourself holy shit, mastering a fundamental skill takes years m8, decades even when talking about anatomy.
Then show us you can paint, and a study doesn't count.
