So, I've been at this whole "drawing thing" for a while now. And I feel as though with each step I take, I am losing the track even more. I would love to seem like a professional at this stuff, but...

Yeah I'm not even gonna beat around the bush here: I'm shit. I'm looking up to broad horizons and I'm hoping I can turn into something that isn't shit.

"in need of loomis"

its not just a fucking meme, dummy
read the sticky
read loomis
jesus christ
>>
Condense your shit drawings.
>>
>>2534992
I know it's not a meme but it's more...
"I need to know how to not fuck up with other peoples' opinions."

So I guess I need more than one person who knows what they're doing.

>>
>>2534996
You need to understand what you're trying to draw. So try perspective and anatomy
>>
anyone else hates the word realistic?
>>
>>2535004
Anatomy is my biggest problem. Then again, so is perspective...

It seems like a no brainer when someone says: "Reference from real life", but when I try that, it seems like trying to write down English from German. It's difficult for me to pick up on.
>>
>>2534996
NO YOU DONT
YOU NEED ONE PERSON WHO CERTAINLY KNOWS WHAT THEYRE DOING
HIS NAME IS ANDREW LOOMIS
DO NOT POST UNTIL YOU CAN DRAW MORE THAN DIARRHEA SPLATTERS ON A PAGE
>>
>>2535012
Well, clearly you don't know what it means so don't do it. Go learn how to draw with your shoulder first then go draw a ton of clean boxes until you can do that, report back in the beginner thread so we know you tried to improve and then it should be more clear where to go from there. This means stop drawing from imagination. So focus on boxes.
>>
>>2535024
I never thought about it like that. Thanks, I'll start adapting that to my drawings from now on.

>>

You must really believe he can make it.
>>
>>2535136
Thank you! When I get the chance, I'll look over these videos and links.
>>
>>2534989
Try bert dodson "keys to drawing". It isn't for cartoony or non-referential work, but it will teach you how to handle a pencil, and other utter beginner stuff.
>>
>>2535175
That sounds very helpful. Thanks for letting me know!
>>
>>2535182
Make sure to spend 5-6 hours a day on purely drawing if you want to be good too. I'm waiting for you.
>>
>>2535151
Anyone can make it with enough effort.
>>
>>2535136

You are a good man.

1- Get pencil and paper. Unless you have an Ipad and jew pencil or a surface, you aint going anywhere
2- Those aren't a pair of shoes what I'm seeing, so you obviously aren't following the bert dodson advise. Do it: drive.google.com/file/d/0ByOCUNj5Lm4eM3NwbmtoSXlWMUk/view?usp=sharing seriously, you wont go anywhere if you just make things up.
3- You don't need to make and bump your own thread. Here: >>2532162 They'll help you and you don't need to worry about how long your thread will last.
4- READ THE STICKY
>>
>>2535323

Since you seem to be too lazy to even look it up properly, let me lend you a hand on this.

Watch:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL39135B8D190B7C97

Take notes while watching and try this method out on referenced heads first. Get the proportions right.

Once you understand the basic concept read this for a better understanding:
http://www.alexhays.com/loomis/Andrew%20Loomis%20-%20Drawing%20the%20Head%20and%20Hands.pdf

Proko's videos are great for getting started. His playlist on facial features make a good addition to his "How to draw the head" series. After that and reading Loomis you might want to look at how different artists approach head construction, for example Hampton or Reilly. Learn to research stuff on your own and properly apply what you learned.

btw. Try to pick up figure drawing as well. Start with practicing gesture first, then basic forms of the body and if you became decent at it, move on to anatomy. Don't skip the other parts, anatomy on its own will not help you before you understand how basic construction works.

Since you don't seem to have a good understanding of forms and your line quality could be much better, maybe you want to do the first two lessons of draw a box first. (Or look up Peter Han on YT) Additionally the basics of constructional drawing/ dynamic sketching are decently explained by drawabox, so you might wanna read into that as well. For the other exercises on the website I personally find other sources much better, for varying reasons, but see for yourself what works.

YT channels I can recommend:
- Proko
- New Masters Academy

Instructional Artbooks:
- Loomis (read first, easy to get, covers basics of figure and portrait drawing)
- Hampton (-> figure drawing)
- Robertson ( -> construction, focus on non-organic objects)

Again: Don't just read it, but to take notes, draw along and practice that stuff. Have fun and don't be disencouraged by the flood of information! You can make it if you really try.
>>
>>2535323
>>2535757
Oh and I forgot to say: Don't use Loomis male head construction to draw female anime girls, since the features aren't placed the same. Use his female head construction for a more realistic anime look and his child/baby head construction for more stylized anime drawings.

Btw im drawing just a fast concept, what do you think about it? Is bad?
>>
>>2536873
It's neither good nor bad, what are you even trying to express?
>>
>>2536874
The expression of her? What i am expressing with her face?
>>
>>2536873
Are you OP? This looks way better than the stuff you posted earlier. You didn't use construction on this one, did you? I think your problem is that you're constructing wrong. Read Loomis, srsly.
Head looks okay for an anime, torso is really fucked up and you have no idea how boobs work. Did you use a reference for this?

Also: What's your goal, OP? Just getting good at drawing cute anime or trying to make this craft your base of income? If it's the first, take what you want and work your pace, getting eventually better while having fun. If it's the latter I would highly recommend to stop drawing anime until you know how the body looks and works.
>>
>>2535024
Not OP, but also a beginner. Why is it beneficial to draw from the shoulder?
>>
>>2536901
Not OP.l didnt take reference and my goal is become a good anime ilustrator, like kr0npr1nz. Im going to keep practicing and thank you for the advice.

Pd: sorry for my bad english
>>
>>2536908
More range of motion. More stable of a control in your drawings. This is all possible with the wrist, but it's much more difficult and not good to use the wrist that way. The shoulder is weak if you're not used to using it, but it will be the main muscle in your arm and help you if further use it.
>>
>>2536908
The drawabox lesson covers it in great detail.
>>
>>2536910
>good anime ilustrator,
>kr0npr1nz

I think you're on a good way. Start pracicing colors and values and apply them to an anime head like you just drew and you'll get into the right direction.

>>2536908
If you draw irl you want to have clean, precise, long strokes when you work on a bigger canvas. It helps to increase the line quality over all. Try it, your lines will be much more confident. Personally it also helps me a lot with finding gesture and flow and drawing more loosely.
Another advantage: It prevents carpal tunnel syndrome.

If you only draw digital and use a medium or small sized tablet you don't need drawing from the shoulder per say. (Would still recommend)
>>
>>2536910
>>2536915

But honestly idk if i will be able to reach my goal
>>
>>2536920
No one does, but that's a risk we all take. Don't be a faggot and give up ans you should be fine.
