I want to be able to draw cute waifus for others since people love fan art, but I have a problem seeing with anime stylization in contrast to life which I learned from Keys to Drawing. Have you considered doing the vertical lines on the poles and doors without them being perfectly straight?

This caught my eye because the top of the angled glass is free-hand, but then it's connected to poles that look like they're done with a ruler. Just stuck out a bit, not sure if that matters.

The works by MattiasA come to mind, if that helps. The whole aspect of drawing without using perfectly straight lines.

Yes, the ribcage/tits. Think "over the surface", think about where the skin stretches (hint: the right tit is too much in front, when you take into consideration the position of the right arm). Also the right hand is fucked. generally your proportions are fucked too. It's a good idea anon, just slap some refs together and fix some of the mistakes.

The basic idea is getting the distance between the nipples and the top of the sternum (roughly where the clavicles meet the sternum) to be equidistant-- if you look closely, I actually draw these horizontal lines at the bottom two corners of the triangle to represent where I think the nipples approximately are (something I picked up from a friend, "it's a lot easier to draw inverted nipples in the rough and then turn them into regular nipples later").

It's maybe not particularly useful in a frontal pose like this but it does help me figure out planes of the of the breasts and orient them in perspective properly in more complicated poses.

I think at the point in the rough too I was undecided on whether I'd have the nipples come through the clothing like some artists like, but I decided against it.

Yes there would be perspective involved, but given the foreshortening and angles of all the rest of the forms the boob's perspective is in fact wrong.

however, there's more issues going on here than just a simple "it's fish eye" will fix, really everything below the breasts don't make a lot of sense and don't read as proper volumes in the perspective

your suggestion is definitely an answer to fixing this picture but there's more than one right answer for these sorts of things; judging by picture it looks like they were shooting for a more extreme angle so I'd probably go for a lower, wider angle lens to get the dynamicism they were looking for

i would say study before you try to find a style,
your colors are kind of bad, your understanding of the face is pretty bad, and the hair looks like poorly styled 5 dollar party wigs.
im gonna break down those each of those points
if you're going to color your art, study color theory pls. also, look at yourself in the mirror. the face is so colorful, you aren't just off white with darker off white, certain parts of the face have blue tones, some are red, or even yellow. it can be very subtle or very defined, just know those tones are there. using the same hue at different values gives skin a very, very corpse like look.
second, i can see that you're tryingto render depth in your faces but they still look flat. push your values, and study the human face to see where those shadows and highlights actually lay on the face. lighting can also be manipulated to change the mood of your painting, so study up bruh. along with needing to work on your values, you should work on your understanding of what components make up the face. some people study the facial planes, i personally find that i learn things better when i study from a model(usually myself lol), the hair looks like its hair gelled to the point of immobility, it looks really unnatural, especially the girl's hair imo, but that could be me nitpicking
so those are some things you should keep in mind on your next one. sorry how critical this i but i hope its more constructive than anything lol

Yeah i understand what you're getting at. I was afraid that my colors were way too dull and muddy. But as for why their hair is like that its supposed to be sort of floating up cause of some loss of gravity cause of the characters but we dont need to worry about that lol. Thanks for the help though, i'll really try to push my color out more and look a lot more carefully at any references I use for colors.

face is derp, that hair is ugly and looks like a bad drawn 80ish, eyes are not simetrical, they're looking in wider range than looking to the infinite,, the foreshortening does not work because it lacks form and size deformation

You lack understanding of what you're doing, you're yoloing it and thinking nothing, lighting makes no sense. block base colors and try to pick them with some sense, then design the lighting properly, planning it, and then make the edges softer, don't try to do all at the same time or you're gonna fail miserably

Elbow ends at the bottom of the ribcage, wrist ends at the bottom of the pelvis (and your hand goes after that).

You'll notice that with taller figures, only certain parts end up being stretched (i.e. for a longer torso, it is better to stretch the chest length while keeping the other areas within regular proportions). For legs, it results in stretching in the shins, while the thighs will not change much (which you can see in the pic you posted)

so i do digital painting by and large, and i wanted to try out some of those pixiv coloring tuts just for fun.

normally i'd glob some paint on my shitty undersketch and start sculpting the shape, but for the manga look you need to start with some lineart done with super thin lines, and it turns out i am absolute shit at that. no experience, no idea where to start.

any advice? any resources i can turn to?

Use that as an underdrawing. Put a new layer above it and do a cleaner more precise line drawing with a smaller brush, zooming in when necessary. Then delete the underdrawing and keep the clean final lines and you can move on to painting underneath it.
