I feel like a lot of people don't understand the point of redlines. They're not done with the purpose of telling the original artist "this is exactly what you should be doing." They're supposed to offer suggestions to the artist, and that's exactly what this one is doing. The advice the redliner wrote in this image is valid and useful. The new drawing's just an example of what could be done; the artist has absolutely no obligation to replicate everything in the example drawing.

If all you can get from this redline is that her face is changed, then you're missing the entire point.

Just discovered Eric Canete, so I grabbed a bunch of his stuff.

I ref'd pretty much everything now that I look at it. Trying to learn better composition, painting without first doing line work, and filling the whole page with a scene instead of floating figures in white space.

i would give it a go but the image is quite hard to read especially the lower body

try a different angle or a different pose maybe, the way the lower right leg covers up the entirety of the pelvis and the way the right thigh foreshortens made that area very fucky. It also seems like you made the lower right leg too long to accommodate for the pose. The left leg cuts off at a very awkward spot unless you just cropped it that way.

I think you just need better planning and measuring proportions before committing to details

Look into how manyy history steps you save, also consider turning off history snapshots if they're currently on.

If I paint for ~4hours i'll end up using 25gb of hdd space, even with 16gb of RAM. In general I use that as a good time to take a break and reload Photoshop.

My friend who's jap just helped me translate a few things on line work from google japan/jap websites and how those moon people make such good animu art work.

here's some tips

- put paper on top of your tablet if you're bothered by how 'slippery' the tablet is

- get yourself to sketch with less lines, make more accurate strokes

- practice by copying other people and analyzing/thinking while drawing

- when putting your pen down, make a 90 degree angle and drop the pen towards your tablet and make the stroke quickly. (Also you'll have to look at the tablet mostly rather than screen if you're complete beginner in digital)

you all probably know the last few, but the paper on tablet thing was interesting to me so I'd thought I'd share.
But be careful, because the paper on tablet thing makes your tip wear off quicker.

Hopefully this clarifies a little bit.
I left in some construction lines to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.
When you draw the mid line and eye line (or brow line depending on method) have it go all the way around.

Also with this pose you have to raise her left arm to hold her head that way.

My hair always ends up being an ugly block with no details in it like literally just ellipses with mediocre shading on the head. I've watched the guides months ago but I can never go from the basic block shapes to actual hair looking hair. Any tips?
