How do you feel about promoting your stuff to friends? I don't even want to share my page on my personal account because I don't feel like it's good enough to pass the judgement of people that I know but mutually aren't in the category of "real friends".
It's probably also tied to the amount of likes and comments for me, e.g. sharing the page when after it reaches about 100 or 200 likes would probably be a lot easier in terms of social stigma expectance.

Most artists I like go under pennames and try to distance their real name from their work.

The best theoretical way to market is to create a seperate art profile. Add as many people on your facebook account to that list as possible and then go a step further and start adding friends of friends to that account.

This seems like the best route imho.

Hey I am not the only one!

Artists I have on fb are mostly art school kids and they get super salty when I post my art (back handed compliments, unsolicited criticisms) because I am a STEM fag.
Most of them run pages that have 100-300 likes and I know it would please them to see my shitty new art blogs with only 10 followers.

I admit I have a huge ego problem as well. My plan is to git gud and followers until I have a reasonably sized follower base. Sharing my blog then would result in maximum jimmy rustling among these douches who are used to be the centers of attention, their forced compliments barely masking their surprise as I reveal my power level while raking in normie likes would be so delicious! I can't wait until that day!

Put your best tags in the first five. Like if you're doing fan art, have the thing you're doing fan art of within those five. Usually I think "artists on tumblr" is also a good tag to have in there since people looking for art usually try that. General tags like "art" are also handy if people are searching things like "dark souls art"

OP here, I made it specifically for the thread. I had to stretch it a bit to fit the idea. Some more relevant platforms had to be omitted. But the platforms I used are in order from left to right, top to bottom, as follows:

the universal share-symbol, deviantart, etsy
instagram, facebook, twitch
patreon, behance, twitter
google+, tumblr, linkedin

... all adjusted to spell "self-promotion".

I've never heard of tumblr themes that lets you arrange your stuff, I'm pretty sure it'll always go from least recent to most recent by virtue of the site itself. Themes are just decorations around that premise.

The closest you can get that I'm aware of is just by tagging. You can use a tag as a sort of folder, since if you use "yourblog.tumblr.com/tagged/mycomic" for example, anything you tagged as "my comic" will come up there.

I think there are some tumblr themes that let you have links, so I suppose what you could do is link to certain tag links that direct people to a "folder"
