This is from "Anatomy for Artists" by Barrington Barber.
Really disappointed with some of the art in here. You can tell that this guy had used many references (which is acceptable since it deals in-depth about muscle groups and bone structure, etc), but once it comes to the pages where it's clearly done by him himself, it's fucked.

I had one of the katy cooper books I got at a scholastic book fair.
Even then I knew it was garbage. I remember my friend and I drawing pictures from the book and improving on them instead of doing classwork in health class and just generally making fun of it.

anime is mostly realism + stylized eyes. Japanese artists study Loomis, Bridgman, Hogarth and then they do specific style studies for the hair, eyes, face stylization that is unique to certain anime styles.

One of the 萌えキャラクタ books. But for fundamentals also grab a few other books. This one has good art and some useful information, but it is all over the place with topics (literally, every few pages the topic changes at random) and doesn't go very in depth with some things.
