no cheating, you can absolutely submit at 23:59:59. Most likely what happened is a) you missed it or even more likely b) your pc's clock isn't the exact same as the server's clock

for example my pc's clock is 30 seconds faster than the server. the latest i can submit at is 23:59:30 because on my side it locks it out saying it's already 00:00:00.

I can probably fix this by telling it to countdown from a number instead of saying countdown to midnight. The issue with doing that is that javascript's timing is affected by PC slow down so you'd need to sync it with the clock. I'll add that to the maybe some day list

oh and unrelated: I spent a gross amount of time trying to find a way to keep track of which submissions you have/haven't viewed and it was all a waste of time. i'm going to have to abandon it for now if i want topics to be ready for the next challenge

For real though, a few days ago I managed to submit as the "1 second remaining" on the timer ticked over to 0, keeping an eye on pc clock too to make sure they were synced. Today I let that final second tick over to 0 before submitting to see if it was possible and there was no 0, just instant lockout. PC clock identical.

the timer on the page will always be more or less in sync with the time on your pc because it's counting down to 00:00:00 based on your pc's time. any difference will be because of the inaccuracy of javascript timing.

I'd see flawless execution on all these entry level exercises and feel terrible when I couldn't match it. Like, I knew that I shouldn't compare myself to an established artist, but it's difficult to read 'this is a simple, brief version,' and realize I can't get anywhere close.
