/Ic/ I have to ask. Is copying someone else's image or work a legitimate way of improving or getting better? I've been doing it on and off for the past year or so, but I always feel like Im just cheating and not actually doing anything to improve. When I do make something without a reference it usually turns out just as good as the copied ones but I honestly cant tell.
And no I dont like print the image and just trace over it, I do it by eye if it matters in any way. So thats another factor that may play into it. Pic unrelated.

nah. quit art, honestly. shit's fucking worthless and retarded.
Since no one seems to be here. Here's the image in particular I was referring to. I finished this last night. I'll post the reference afterwards.

But I mean, I dont care how shit I may be I enjoy doing it and I wanna get good you know?
And heres the image I used. On a purely copying level did I manage to make something good? Im not asking if what I drew itself was good, but did I make it similarly enough to pic related?
Also yes I didnt color her clothes and had, I felt that leaving just the blood would give a better effect.
There's actually a thread about this already:

Yes
>but I always feel like Im just cheating
You cannot draw what you do not know. Always use reference.
>>I do it by eye
Try harder. Your copy doesn't look anything like the reference. Put some time in it.

Im surprised someone bothered to reply after so long a time.
>Your copy doesn't look anything like the reference. Put some time in it.
I drew it over a couple days. Not all at once, more like 3 or 4 hours in total. Mind specifying anything in particular?
