Wanted to post in the questions thread but couldn't find it.
Did you or do you have trouble staying focused on drawing so that you have resorted to using "focus drugs"?
>>I notice since I started my full time nightshift job I don't ever feel like I have spare time; this makes me feel rushed when sitting down with a pencil- like I HAVE to make each effort perfect. It usually ends in me giving up.
I have all these things I use to stay up on the night shift. Caffeine, ephedrine, adrafinil, and now kratom which I use occasionally at work
I'm just wondering if any of these have helped you become a more focused or better artist, and, if so, were there negative consequences?
thanks

Don't do drugs senpai. At least, not for "staying up at night". Trust me, it's worse when you depend on them, pretty rad at the start though.
The only thing you should need to focus on art is a good daily routine, time management, self discipline, sleeping correctly, and a healthy diet. Daily low-bar fitness is also a must. Even if you just set the bar as low as 5 minutes of fitness.
If you don't have these, or if your work is burning out, your attempts at art will fail to prosper.
This is irrelevant of whether you are doing day shift or night shift. There's no reason to not simply be sleeping correctly between shifts, and then using your spare time/days off appropriately.
Drugs don't do shit. They're just another thing you have to waste time dealing with once you get stuck relying on them for a routine fix.
Fucking fresh fruit and almond nuts are way better than any bullshit drugs.
