-Do not rate or give critiques unless if the artist specifically requests it.
-If someone is RUDE tell them to not expect much from an hour's work.
-Posting WIP's, studies, "doodles", and random sketches are highly encouraged.
-The art must be fresh. Like you just drew it in the past hour.
Hey Mike! Looks kinda stiff but doesn't matter, you did it quickly after all!
Best of luck.

>>2300993
its good to have a thread where people dump whatever they just drew.
practice
>>2301020
I agree, but I don't think some people get the idea of having a "no pressure" thread. It's good for people to be able to post some stuff without worrying about it being torn apart, just to get people drawing and sharing. There's value in talking about and looking at gesture drawings and doodles too, but the draw thread is more for things you want to take to finish. I like the lower key atmosphere, or idea of it, these threads have, for a reprieve.
>>2301032
artists work better without pressure
thats why doodles and studies drawn by Mucha are about 10 times better than his actual works
>>2301036
It really is true, isn't it? I only know one person who seems at his best under pressure, he's one of those kinds of people who would get antsy if they went on vacation. Other than that, it's a plague on us artists. I'm trying to force myself to treat even free time pieces seriously and finish them though. I want to get myself into the habit of finishing things when I'm not under fire so I can get a job and actually do it.

Hey assenabler, post what you drew in the past hour.

thanks, Ill fix that tonightttttttt
Hour and thirty but still counts right? It's just a block in. I just want feedback mostly on the scale and position of the horse before I take it further.
>>2301759
the horse's neck is just confusing to look at. the shadow and lines make it so you can't tell how thick it is or how it attaches to the head
>>2301767
I know, I haven't defined much in that area because I'm not sure where the head needs to go. If I could get it in the right spot and size, I can use some reference to tighten up the anatomy, but I don't have much experience drawing horses so I just need someone to help me get a ballpark.

not art can achieve 1:1 replication of reality. becuase select information is translated to the substrate of the art realism is interpreted. realism is its own style with all it own nuances just as what comes with any other style. so to say "learn realism before x" is stooopiiid

OH MY FUCKING GOD PLEASE HELP ME.
How do I fix the anatomy?
There are probably more stuff to fix but my biggest beef is with the legs/waist.
The left leg is killing me. No matter how much I re-draw it seems that is dislocated or simply poorly drawed/connected with the waist.
I really need to learn a shit ton about anatomy and perspective.
Please help
>>2302505
You're best off the scrapping the entire picture and just starting something easier, the worst thing you can do while learning how to draw is over extending yourself.
>>2302505
First of all, no need to post a wallpaper sized picture for a simple sketch.
Second, the left leg is broken. Legs arent usually banana shaped.
For some reason I got really nostalgic and decided to draw Karnov.
I know he's abit wonky in areas, but critiques and advice is appreciated anyways.
>>2302514
Sorry for the gigantic file
And yes, that lower leg, I already know it needs sum fixing. But it's the rest that is killing me.
The left cheek, how it connects with the waist, how it connects with the right cheek.
It's all messed up, I know it but I don't know how to fix it
>>2302429
You sort of drew a mitt hand, if his fetish is for hands he might want more detail. Have her spreading her fingers a bit or something, and also don't make them pointy.
>>2302505
her ass should be farther to the left, its totally out of line with her lower back. Her right leg is attached to her side
>>2302540
yes, I can see that now.. It looks like her back/waist is all twisted/broken.
Going to try to fix it.
Thanks for the help.
>>2302505
I'm hardly better than you so take it with a grain of salt but hopefully you can glean something
>>2302555
Also I would move her tit down a bit on the ribcage as well as fix the left foot and leg foreshortening
>>2302555
Yes, the left leg is all messed up. I was going to fix it but I was focusing too much on the waist and the cheeks/thighs.
Again thanks for the help.
>>2302472
Yeah I kinda figured that its too small but he likes small hands so worried he'll would pay if they are too big. Also there is a thumb if you look closely. I know its hard since it a rough sketch which is why I'm taking criticism now before I go back and adjust. But thank you anon

>>2302591

>>2302439
I love it
>>2302635
That is a good tip.
I'm just so frustrated. It's such a simple and basic pose.
It pisses me off that I'm having such an issue with it.
I thought I was better than this. Apparently I'm so, so wrong.
I need to practice... A lot
>>2300984
:^)
>>2302645
In my noob opinion her torso and arms are alright.
Since it's just a basic lineart, if you feel it's completely fucked you could just scrap it and draw the same thing from scratch. (I think it could turn out alright with some successful adjustments. Just don't waste hours polishing a turd when you could spit out a few more drawings and gain extra insight is what I mean, this is not a competition).
Fucking around in Photoshop.

>>2302727
Here's an image of me saving a screenshot of the process as a PNG-24 file in the web tool.
>>2302734
Practice. I recently switched to holding the pencil/stylus in the "correct way" with the tip of the thumb and index finger on the pencil instead of the weird death grip I see alot of artist do and it actually helps alot. You want to have as little tension in your hand as possible, and draw from your shoulder aswell.
With that said though, I don't think those lines are particulary good but thanks anyway!

>>2303898
tips on the brush pen? I just really like using it. I feel like I'm doing better than where I started off a few weeks ago. pic relate
I've been doing line exercises that another anon suggested but nothing other than that
>>2303906
your line weight is explaining all the wrong things in the wrong places as in >>2303883 you have used a heavy pressure line to describe where his tank top meets his shoulders, but this makes it look as if the shirt has a large black boarder to it or deep dark as fuck shadows surrounding it, that or deep gashes directly into his arms.
line weight is everything when using a brush to draw, all im saying is perhaps use a pen untill you know how shadows fall, like the way you have his right leg in total shadow and the top remains pure white makes no sense.
>pic related, one of my own brush pen jobs, and even i think that the brush pen is still too far away skill wise to justify using it.
>>2303921
>makes it look as if the shirt has a large black boarder to it
it does lol, I used a reference
>>2303921
the part I agree with is the shading on the shirt I thought about shading it with pencil. kind of hard to lightly shade white with a brush pen after all.
>>2303927
>kind of hard to lightly shade white with a brush pen after all.

>>2302395
to make picture on the right you need to learn construction, if you learn construction then you can then play with the proportions of the figure to make whatever the fuck you want to.
>>2304683
1. It's shit, and you really should read sticky.
2. For now stay with a pencil - charcoal is a difficult medium.
If you insist on using it then, as an exercise, draw some grayscales (like ones mentioned here: http://drawsketch.about.com/od/learntodraw/ss/shadingsteps.htm ). Try to make it look clean.

if you want to have giant eyes then don't aim for a realistically proportioned skull. Anime faces are not just about single features out of place. Their entire skulls are warped. So go practice drawing a 100 skulls and learn the muscles on top of it. Then you can warp it into having a tiny pointy jaw and giant eye sockets and still have some structure and have it read well. Then you will be closer to those perfect female link porn faces that I bet you are just craving to draw.

This is based on that Gray Fox pose drawn by Shinkawa.
You l-like /ic/?
I drew a Maokai.
Critique always appreciated.

He looks high, ish't he supposed to be angry?
>>2311233
My plan is that he is dead. He died happy.

What are the bits hanging on his chin ? roots? Moss?
The little fur cover is a bit weird aswell, try implement moss a bit more to the work imo that would just suit better with the character.
Also the edges where the tree (crust/bark?) ends are a bit too sharp and it seems like it is plywood rather than that strong wood it actually is.
Just some thoughts, ignore them if you want but u might find something useful.

Gesture is good, lots of structural problems though. Left shoulder (her right) is too high and close to her head, also not enough separation between shoulder head (deltoid) and upper arm. Breasts are just...wrong. Her arm would be going forward to support her weight, breasts would be hanging behind it, shouldn't be pushing them over that much, should be more overlap instead. The legs are way wrong too. Upper right (her left) leg is too short, below the knee of the left leg is probably too long, and everything from the knees downward shows you don't know the anatomy of the leg. The left foot also shouldn't be planted so close to the center, her arm is supporting the weight of her head, that leg should be supporting her body. The arms look good. I'd recommend studying up then redrawing it.

Thanks for the critique anon.
Going to check all that.

Roots
>The little fur cover is a bit weird aswell, try implement moss a bit more to the work imo that would just suit better with the character.
The cover actually is supposed to be moss but it defenitely looks like fur.

They sure can use more thickness.
Thanks anon.
I get told my lines "lack confidence".
>>2311275
Looks like, because they're all shaky an shit
try using thicker lines in the silhouette, maybe it helps
i cannot continue
part of a homework to create a multistage boss
>>2311280
I can see what you mean but they aren't shaky. I just don't draw them in one go. I mark off the corners and curves first and then I connect them. Guess I could try a fatter line. (I used a 3 pixel brush there.)
Critique welcome...I'd like some feedback before I lineart.
Trying to practice on perspective and foreshortening and I didn't really intend for the legs/hips to be THAT big so I'll have to correct that once I scan it.
>>2311286
I like the middle one in the top row. With the three heads.
>>2311300
For a second I thought SundryAddams got really really bad.
>>2311300
holy fuck kill it with fire before it can lay eggs
>>2311275
I tried to double the resolution and run over most of the lines again.
>>2300984
rate me...Be very tough

I like them. The skull is great.
trying to force myself to draw bigger. I can already tell the face needs working on, what else is obvious?
>>2311421
It looks like the mouth is a little too high up, or perhaps that's part of the style. Her breasts are waaay too pery, and should have some weight to them. Women's breasts' don't bulge out where the armpit starts.
>>2311421
is that your female link version 2?
>>2311466
Stop chicken scratching.
Aside from that I can see that you're trying to use perspective-correct guidelines to line up feature landmarks and that you seem to be using the loomis dummy as the basis for your anatomy. These are good things. The bad thing is that you don't know enough about anatomy to place anything on top of those guides.
I'd suggest you stop trying for the level of detail you are now and focus on the large masses and gesture. Focusing on just that and sticking with your attention to the guidelines and basic dummy will get you comfortable enough to later start focusing on muscle and detail. Right now you're trying to do way more than you have the background for and it is killing you. I'll provide an example to help when I get home in a bit.

I liked it better when anatomy was fucked up.
face was awful though.
and what the hell is a contrapasto? in my first language it means something around the lines of "countermeal"
>>2311257
Just another thing anon, I don't know if you are going to read this, but can you recommend some good tutorials, artists with good tips regarding how to draw anatomy?
I follow some artists, some youtubers, but they mostly do stylized ilustrations/body types.
I want to have a better knowledge regarding anatomy before going for stylization
pears pears pears
critique very welcome

Always a tough question for me because I went through good old fashioned life drawing classes. I've watched a few Proko videos and he seems to be good at breaking anatomy down in an easy to understand way. Aside from that I'd say just copy from life and photos with an emphasis on accuracy, and go more in depth with an area at a time, instead of trying to learn all the little details at once. Like you'd start studying legs more in depth, learning the major muscles and bones for a few weeks until you can draw it from memory, then move onto back muscles or shoulders or something. Still practice the whole body though, and incorporate the detail studies.

It lacks shadows and looks flat. Give it some darker shadows and work on the values.
Maokai update. I never know how much fuck I should give about the background at this stage. I think it´s alright to leave it there, work on Maokai first and get to it later.
But should I change the composition a bit? Putting him more to the right in the golden ratio and such? Currently he is kinda in the center.
When does the new thread happen?
>>2300984
just did this.
not gonna finish it though

Another 30 minute scribble, feel like continuing this though
