What materials have you stolen for art?

For me it's mostly office supplies from my office job, stack load of paper for gesture/figure exercises and recently pic related so I can stretch paper for watercolors
>>
>>2294178
always think about stealing copics, but never had the balls to do it
>>
>>2294178
Personally, nothing cause I have a job and can pay for my shit without a problem as it's the only hobby I have.
Reminds me of this thread we had not too long ago tho

Who here vandalized someone's art before? Come on, I know some of you dicks have.
>>
I've stolen so much stuff in the name of art
since high school I'd steal stuff from the class room, and go to hobby lobby often and steal whatever supplies I needed, I've stolen sketch books, tracing papers, copic markers, pencil sets, pen sets, paints, book references, literally most of my things have been stolen

I'm a klepto, so when I go into a place without cameras it gets really hard to control my urge to steal
I'm not too proud of my "special talent" but I indulge it very often
>>
I doodle on a pad of paper that isn't for doodling at work because I'm just a fucking badass.
>>
I stole a rubber once. such a badass
>>
>>2294261
I work at hobby lobby. Howd you steal the copics? They're always locked up
>>
There is nothing great about stealing. Plus, I feel better using things I pay for. I don't waste them, I use them to the best.
>>
I used to steal moleskines & copics but now I go to the same places too often to risk getting banned.

>All the printer paper and the printer paper in the storage cupboard
>Pretty much everyones fancy expensive art pencils in the whole school. I've got almost one guys entire set of 9H - 9B
>Someones sketchbook. It was pretty much empty but he had it for over a year
>a mac with all adobe programs on it
>too many copics
>a bunch of those fineliner micron pen whatever they're called
>multiple tubes of primary colour student paints
>all the white paint
>loads of those clips in the op pic
>an artsy lamp
>A toolbox of someones art supplies
>someones sandwich
I've never had a chance to steal someones paintbrushes because people ruin the fuck out of them and they're not worth stealing

I'm a terrible person
But like they didn't have any cameras in the place. I would have stolen them too
>>

I just ask to look at them.
I don't know if all hobby lobbies are placed the same but the copics, pens, etc, are normally next to the frame makers, so I just wait till the frame maker is with someone and she'll just let me see,
I wait for the right moment take like 4 or so and take like 3 I'm gonna buy

For me its the adrenaline rush I get from shoplifting, it could be an eraser or a pencil, it still gives me a nice rush
unfortunately, when I don't act on it, I leave feeling angry and disappointed in myself because I know I could have gotten away with it

Ive taken like a trillion of those little red sharpeners from my art class. Originally i bought like 4 of the exact same one my HS art class had. I kept thinking they were mine and before I knew it everywhere you looked in my room and in every part of my backpack there were small sharpeners. I then realized that that was more than four, but who gives a shit. The things are worthless.
>>
I've stolen stuff from schools I've gone to. Paints, brushes, pens, a stapler, sculpting tools... It was always part of something I was currently working on and I never intended to keep the stuff, it just got left behind. To this day I keep telling myself I'll go back and return it. (It's not going to happen)
On the other hand, I often used my own paints and materials when doing school work, so I guess it kinda evens out.
>>
As a beginner, I'll be stealing a hell of a lot of printer paper when I return to school.
>>
>>2294178
I've stolen crap like pens and paints and shit throughout the years but when I was like 10-11 I stole a fellow student's sketchbook.
I traced and drew all his anime sketches (they were great) and litterally like magic got really fucking good at anime. I don't know if I absorbed his powers or just learned a lot from studying his lines and mess ups.... Don't draw anime anymore but that broke through the wall I had at the time

in other words... if you're gonna steal something, steal someone who draws well's sketchbook
>>
>>2294657

Mostly print-paper for my sketches. You cant steal loads and loads of paper and that will be fine.
Also my mother was bringing me papers from her job when i was in school.
All because:
>>2294196
>I don't steal because I'm a decent human bean who respects other people and their property.
Because stealing from big companies/government wont hurt anybody.
Only naive people like you would say something like that.

1) stealing from people is bad
2) stealing from big companies is not

I usually steal rubbers and pencils from classmates but my 2 big hits were:

>Go to huge shopping center
>Comic book/drawing store
>Grab all the comics I want and Loomis books
>Go to bathroom with them
>Put them inside my backpack
>Hide the backpack in the bathroom
>Go for lunch for a few hours to lose heat in case they noticed
>Come back to the bathroom, grab backpack and leave

And

>Last day of art school
>Grab a Cintiq from a classrom and fucking leave
>A friend told me they noticed but didn't know who it was
>>
>>2294812
Stealing from companies is still stealing and in the end someone or several people are still losing property/money. Just because you don't see who you are taking it from doesn't mean you aren't taking it from them.
>>
>>2294940
>Grab a Cintiq from a classrom and fucking leave

>>
>>2294967
Nope, I have no need for beginner videos and you can find the best brushes in the world for free without having to steal them. If someone is charging for brushes they are scamming you.
>>
>>2294967
that's true, I stoled my windows 8.1 and ps cs6, not because I don't consider software worth money, but because I leave in a second world country were pay is low
also movies, tutorials, games, and that kjg video of him at thu event
>>
>>2294969
live*
damn, I am on a roll today
>>
>>2294964
>>2294952
Lol, you're just making that rich jew richer. Big companies know you steal and all do regular inventories and compare them to sales to see if people are stealing. They figure out what rate they're losing money at and mark up everything to make up for it. It usually divides out to a pretty small amount, but still, when you steal, honest customers are subsidising you.

I lifted 500 in paint and brushes from michaels when i was much younger. Stopped when I realized what a cunt I was being, and that stealing didn't help me git gud. You can't steal git gud.

I once got busted while trying to run through a crop field with 20 stolen copic markers and lile 30 bucks of weed, the property owner spotted me and called the cops and they hid the car right at the exit of the farm, it was the only way I had to get back home fast after stealing that shit, I'm still on probation while trying to git gud.

If I see someone acting suspicious in an art store I'll tell the employees. I've taken plenty of digital videos/brushes though, I don't give a shit about that sort of thing yet.

>>2295005
>Big companies know you steal and all do regular inventories and compare them to sales to see if people are stealing. They figure out what rate they're losing money at and mark up everything to make up for it.
Most stores will compare sales from the previous year and if they're notably lower the store will only be allowed a certain number of hours for employees per week. This results in the workers losing money by having their hours cut.
When a store has its inventory totaled their theft loss has to be under a specific percentage of the store's sales to be considered passable, and if it's over corporate will investigate to figure out what the right thing would be to do.
>>
>>2294178
I don't steal art supplies, but I sympathize with the urge.

If you go to any type of office-y place or a computer lab, you can usually find a bunch of paper that was only printed on side in the trash. Just use the back sides.
>>
Reading this thread makes me wanna steal but there ain't much here in this shit town

i've stolen a shit loads stuff from ic and used your pictures to make my own objects and made money from them

/gd/ is nothing but logos and bitching about how shit all software is, there's nothing original there.

I like to lurk here because it's all (90% of it anyways) new, nothing I have seen before, new ideas and some great drawers.

Most of my work is of common sights anyway; Bands, posters, cars and art.
I don't know what fashion is like in the USA but this shit (pic related) is all over t-shirts in the UK. I was doing this 15 years ago, in fact it was the first two things I sold on eBay, made a stencil, printed it out, cut it out and traced it onto two t-shirts. £15 each.
>>
Stole a ton of copic markers.

Don't use them but know they are expensive as hell.
>>
I like to steal Conte Paris pencils, graphite pencils, and Stabillo colored charcoal pencils from the supply cabinet in my art class.

Otherwise it's been highlighters or notebooks from work. Never have the balls to actually steal stuff from a store. :(

When you steal from the company you aren't stealing it from owners. They scoop the good stuff no matter what. You are stealing from the workers. They bear the cost.
>>
Well I just never returned a set of brushes from my high school art class. Oh and a carving thing. Was so tempted to keep a huge prisma color pencil set but liked my teacher too much.

I haven't stolen from big retail chains since I was in middle school, got caught one time at a hot topic and was so spooked I never tried it again. The girl didn't even try to keep me or anything, she could see in my eyes that I was just a dumbass kid who was scared shitless so she took back what I was trying to steal and told me to gtfo. My parents eventually found my stash of stolen merch and took it all away lol

It's tempting though, especially at my Hobby Lobby- it would be so easy to pocket ink and a few brushes. But I am too brown and too poor, employees keep an eye on me at any place so yeah. Fuck that.
