Well, I was painting this with a lot of inspiration, I painted the background and thought it would be great to add some sort of "shaded" mountains, so I started to paint them and when I realise... I just fucked up all my previous work, I'm frustrated. Can someone help me out with ideas?

you did the background once, so you can do it again, right? so if you just want that as a background, do it again and try the foreground again
make like 5 or 6 of those background canvases and just be adventurous!
