spaceship design request

Interesting thread, anon. This isn't a delivery, it's just a star wars ship I've designed. It's designed to be a mobile stronghold for the leader of an organization based in the unknown regions. The armor is an artificial metal crafted to mimic the molecular structure of a another material, that being, the scales of a dragon like humanoid species. It's 1200 meters long and is designed to interact with other ships. I have other designs on mind, but they're all star wars. If I make a design that matches something you need it's all yours, but I can't make any promises. Sorry if this was off topic.

try to arrange things so that related components can all be lined up in the same direction.

For instance go with center line turrets instead of wing turrets.

For another remember that aerodynamics are of lesser importance in space and that you can move and rotate in any direction and be approached from any direction, so don't build something with an unprotected "underside" as though it were an ocean going vessel.

im not good at drawing, but i like sci-fi so i might have some ideas (as a sample i drew this in a few minutes. its not really a spaceship because of the jet engine but whatever)

I'll help you OP but so help me god if you never come back to this thread and I waste my time sketching for you

Try photo collage with symmetry.

So you take photographs that have cool textures, colors, and things you like, and use a lasso tool to cut out a random shape. Copy that shape and paste, then flip it and now you have a symmetrical shape made of unique textures and etc.

If you know how to draw in perspective, you can then use that shape and information to come up with some cool new ideas yourself.

Concept artists like Feng Zhu use this method sometimes.

Another thing you can do is look up random things on google, insects etc. and use those to help you come up with designs.

Never forget the important thing about running a game (I assume you're doing table top RPG or something similar) which is story, keeping people's interest, conflict, getting the players to feel like their decisions matter and like their actions matter in the story, etc.

Don't get too hung up on side things like spaceship designs, it's a colossal waste of time that could be spent to make your game a better experience in a more direct way.

Unless you're doing a video game or something that relies on visuals this is entirely way too much time spent thinking about a visual design.

I'm actually oddly qualified to answer this question, because I've been a GM of table tops for over 20 years AND I'm an artist.
