Is this an actual guy, or a take on Jaco? I haven't been keeping up with Super, so I wouldn't know

He's contestant from Universe 11 in Zeno's Tournament. They didn't reveal his name yet - on /a/ they call him Captain Ayylmao. He's heavily featured in new OP

When I was a kid these drawings were the pinnacle of artistic ability. I knew that if I could draw like this, color and all, I would be amazing.
...
Now that I can actually do it, not so much.

This is amazing to me. I can actually see the hard edges where he layered the dyes.

Same here.
Drawing Dragonball was the coolest thing in my grade 5. Nearly every boy would gather and draw Dragonball Z saiyans anytime we has free time in class

What does this mean? Because you can mimic the style faithfully, you think less of it? I'm genuinely curious.
Besides his unique style, what impresses me the most about his drawings is how well he conveys dynamism. I've seen Toyotaro's new stuff for Super, and while the art is pretty on point, the dynamism in the action scenes is nowhere near as good as it is with Toriyama. I still think Toriyama is very impressive.

It's not that I think less of the style, it's just that now that I'm here I can see how much farther there is to go.

That applies to anything, unfortunately.
The more you learn about a subject, the better of an understanding you can grasp on how much effort, learning, skill, time and experience is involved in it.
Unfortunately, this also means those who know very little about something may have the false sense that they know a lot after just just scratching the surface.
A good example would be people who are convinced by anti-vax campaigns. They do so because they know very little about science, biology and health. And they decide scratch the surface after seeing the propaganda. But the little research they do is usually a google search with heavy confirmation bias and don't know better. Then they've "confirmed" the info and won't budge most of the time. Yay humanity.

I get what you're saying, but I still think Toriyama is one of the better manga artists.
>>2884215
For sure. The specific drawings I was referring to aren't even close to his top level material.
>>2891874
Ah. I thought you were talking about his art in general.
Anything Bulma related?

I got those from google. I just searched something like "dragon ball toriyama", "dragon ball manga"
