Anons, what do you do about keeping old variety and reality shows? I have several hundred gigabytes of stuff with SNSD, 2NE1, f(x) and Invincible Youth, Running Man, WGM, etc. The part of me that found them greatly entertaining at the time wants me to rewatch them in the future, but another part of me knows that they've lost their novelty, and by watching them once they have already served their purpose of entertaining me and it's impractical to keep everything I liked once just to relive memories of deriving enjoyment from watching faraway people actually make real memories.

Storage space isn't an issue, it's more about struggling with attachment to moments that were never mine to begin with.

Jeez DSP sure is bringing out the big bucks for Kasper on this MV. Way to believe in your stars. You know, with proper creativity there should be ways to make a shoestring budget still pop. Then you should keep them, I delete stuff because I have a rule of keeping only a 2 TB HDD with 50 GB of free space, but seems like it's not your case. I personally enjoyed my 2nd time watching Invincible Youth, I focused less on the subtitles and more on the girls.

The RM episodes are not really worth keeping, they're everywhere, from legal to illegal streaming, to torrents and subtitle files. As for the rest, I'm not 100% sure but since they're popular, they could be available on Avistaz, there's always someone seeding. The only exception is if you have the raw 1080i cuts.

I used to keep everything I watched, but a while ago I deleted all but my favorite shows, which I do intend to rewatch at some point. Some I've even rewatched already and they were still very entertaining.

But I disagree with you that those moments were never yours. Even if it looks like it on the surface, those shows are not the same as you spying on a group of friends who are playing games and having fun together. Those shows were made with the purpose of being watched by their viewers. I mean, the viewers are an integral part of it, without them, those moments wouldn't have taken place.

And not only do you share those experiences with the cast and everyone involved in producing the show, you also share it with all the other viewers. You and I watch and enjoy the same show and now we have this thing in common that we both went through. And then we talk about it online and we get yet another common experience connecting us.

These kinds of connections through shared experiences are a major reason why people do the things they do and enjoy the things they enjoy.

So what I'm trying to say is that the memories you made are real and there's no shame in cherishing them and keeping some number of bits in a certain state so you can relive them later.

Still got every episode of Family Outing, Running Man, IY, pretty much every subbed episode of IC among others so all in all it takes up like a 2TB external drive.

And I have rewatched a lot of it and still enjoy it on repeated viewings so I will keep it all as long as the HDD is alive.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure it's mandatory for everyone. I saw a video about people that avoid the military a while ago, they become pariahs in Korea. Their parents kick them out, if they rent, their landlord kicks them out, no one wants to hire them, no one wants to befriend them. They basically beg on the streets or commit crimes to survive. Avoiding conscription is one of the worst things you can do.

There used to be a celebrity unit, who were known for not doing much apart from taking lots of holidays which was probably the easiest service you could do. But that got abolished when they got into too many scandals.

Thanks for that point of view. You're right that viewers and fans are an integral part of the entertainment business. I do cherish the memories of watching these kind of videos, I just think my role is too passive. But watch out for the risk of this self deprivation creating a sense of accomplishment that makes it less likely for you to do other things that require more effort, like exercising and so on.

I think something very important in a situation like this is finding intrinsic motivations to do the things you want to do. Like you exercise because you like getting fitter and stronger, you get better fitting clothes because you enjoy the way they look on you, you socialize more because you enjoy getting to know new people regardless of any romantic possibilities.

If acquiring a qt irl is just an expected consequence of doing the things you want to do, instead of being the sole reason for you to do those things, then I think that makes it much more likely for you to stick to them and to already be happier along the way.
