Thanksgiving is great, with all of the food that we eat;
With so much dining, we are replete.
Lay back on the couch, unbutton our pants;
Rest one night, getting ready for the Black Friday dance.
Early to rise, sometimes while it’s still dark;
Even then, it may be hard to park.
Wait in line, just to get in;
Can’t wait to look, for things in the sale bin.
When the doors finally open, there is a rush;
People go crazy, they shove and push.
Everyone wants to get that flatscreen TV, with the latest video game;
Grabbing, screaming and cursing, each points to the other to blame.
Sometimes it comes to blows, and there is a fight;
There is a struggle, and they use all of their might.
Gotta get that latest toy, for their baby boy;
If not, there will be no Christmas Joy.
Bustling around, it is a sight to behold;
I’d never go, it’s what I’ve been told.
Loading up their carts, until they’re overflowing;
Now for the long check out line, everybody is knowing.
They pay with cash, check or charge;
No price to pay, is too large.
They spend money they don’t have, just to be in the spirit;
Then in January, groceries are hard for them to get.
I’d never go shopping on Black Friday, never in my life;
Too much trouble, too much strife.
I’d rather stay at home, and watch it all on TV;
Much safer that way, as I drink my coffee.
I wonder if it’s all worthwhile, the stress and worry;
All the parking, waiting and buying gifts in a hurry.
My advice to you, is to wait a day or two;
Are the sales really worth, that much to you?
Go ahead and struggle, if you must;
Watch your face, don’t give them a lip to bust.
Good luck on Black Friday, I hope you get all that you need;
You’ll be lucky to make it home, without having to bleed.
