Hi, I have this idea of turning older European map (circa 17th/18th century) into a painting on my wall.
I have no picture as of yet, but it would be something like pic related (less cluttered if possible).
I would frame it. Has anyone done project like this? How large did you print it, on what kind of paper? Did you have custom made frames?
How much did it cost in the end?
Looking for tips! Also taking high-res historic maps for ideas as well.
Usually to pirnt you need 300dpi for best performance, that's a huge handicap.
If you're not going to watch it very closely, 150 would do.
I doubt any jpg of 8mb could reach more than an A3 paper size on best case scenario.
Frame it usually is the worst part for me and the reason i don't try to do something similar. Every cheap frame i found is mostly shit and x10 expensive than the print. Never searched on the net for this tho.
The cost... well, should'nt be very expensive, but are you from Romania or Japan?
Got you almost fully covered OP, you're welcome.

Thank you. I am from Northern Europe, so expensive is normal here.
What you posted is exactly what i've been thinking, maybe with less text.
Might be worth asking a museum / university that has the original for a reprint. It's not gonna be cheap though
