/cel/ would clean the shit off of this board
>>
they can also post their webms and non /hr/ shit there too . oh and tmz shit
>>
As a dedicated celeb head, I approve of this. It would allow for a cleanup of the /b/ threads too. Now all the cucky jerk-bros can have there own threads and not foul up the regular threads. It would also allow the more dedicated amongst us to dispel rumors and fakes. make it happen.
>>
Apart from individual megathreads for a given celeb, here is a list of ideas for /cel/ threads:

nudes
fakes
oops
nostalgia
over 40
vintage
xray
fuxta
whodis?
star trek babes
guess the movie/TV stills
fiction (ugh)
character rule 34
red carpet hr
legit or fake?
whose who in new nudes
before they were famous
dudes

Why not just live in peaceful coexistence?

the board is slow as shit. if anything non celeb gets posted, it typically lasts longer than most celeb threads *IF THERE IS SUFFICIENT INTEREST* they are plenty populated and arent bullied by celebfags. the board works as close to perfect as possible in its current form. there is no justifiable reason to add or remove anything from the equation at this juncture.

Proceed with your wrong opinion.

It's either people complaining about "too many celebs" or people defending their wafu's honor against someone who said she had "refrigerator hips" or a "dead career." If you want to post old advertising posters or pictures of city planning nobody will bother you.

>>2749744
>>2749876

The pretty starlets and pop singers and whorish models are the bait that brings people to the other threads. I clicked on this board at random a couple years ago and just looked at pictures of gorgeous girls wearing little to no clothing before branching out - it's a gateway drug anon. Please don't make /hr/ have a divorce ;_;
>>
>>2749603
same thing happened to /tv/, i suggested they all move to a slow board.
>>
I was going to make a thread about this myself since hiro said we could disscuss rules and moderating changes we'd like on each board

Celeb threads need to fucking go off the board or be heavily limited.

I counted the other day: of the 144 threads on the board, 108 of them were about celeberties; and it's like this all the time and has been for more then a year. that's fucking absurd.

>>2749715
>>2749963
>>2750001
>>2750004
At the same time, these are valid points. I'm not convinced though: Even if non celeb content rarely gets pushed off due to celeb stuff, there's still a clear massive gap in content, users, and why people come to the board. I can't speak for everybody, but ever since celeb stuff started here, I stopped coming to /hr/. I used to come here once or twice a week. Now I only come once every 3-4 months.

I stand by that giving celeb stuff it's own board (possibly with e-celebs too so /v/ can stop whining) is the best solution. Celeb content wouldn't need to be banned here, but there should be a rule that only images too large to post on /cel/ can be posted here.

While we are at it, the resolution limit should be removed. There's a purpose of a file size limit (even if I think that file size limit is too low here), but a resolution limit is pointless. A image being X resoluton has no negative impact unless it's ALSO above a certain file size, and there's already a limit for file sizes.

There need to be no change in /hr/ since its a slow board ( one thread is currently over a year old. ) and pictures of females do not prevent hr pictures of other topics to be posted. My grip is to the mods who fail to respect the 300 bump limit and autosage kpop treads randomly without no reasons given.
>>
>>2749603
fuck off
>>
>>2750042
That's irrelevant. You can make that sort of statement about any set of threads on any board.

The fact of the matter is that having 75% of the board being devoted to the same fucking images of celebs being posted over and over that aren't even so high res they can't be posted on another board isn't what this board was made for.

It help both people who like celeb stuff to have their own board with their own set of rules tailored to that content, and to people who just like cool high res shit to have it off.

For example, if celeb stuff was kicked off, the volume of posts here would go way down, which could mean the file size limit and resolution limits could be loosened.
>>
>>2750059

>could mean

But it won't. I get what you're saying and I think there should be a /cel/ board for pictures, gossip and shit, but I really doubt it will increase the volume on /hr/.
>>

>>2749950
Further proof the celebs are just here to troll. Out with them all I say, for some much needed board chemotherapy

Pic related, you will never have a picture of a celebrity that is both this high of a resolution and image quality, and therefore should not be using the board

Have you noticed how the celeb and kpop threads usually have multiple of the same subject at all times? And that so much garbage gets posted to these threads that they hit bump and image limit within a week? Whereas the threads with actual /hr/ content last months, because they aren't flooded with posts that aren't quality images? The speed at which these two types of threads develop makes it feel like there are two boards sharing the /hr/ classification at all times. Or should I say, one board (/hr/) is being invaded by the remnants of another board (/tv/) that got kicked out of their own territory because not even their own kind wanted them any more. That's right, you aren't wanted here the same way you weren't wanted over there. Go away.

I've been uploading a lot of content that I've taken from /hr/ to Flickr over the past few days. Let's face it, while there have been brilliant threads here, 4chan isn't a very good image sharing website (Especially regarding bulk uploads/downloads).

before the celeb threads started showing up the board moved swiftly, and there used to be threads supplementing threads on other boards with extremely high resolution related content. before the time of captchas was the best time for /hr/ and other photography based boards. There were scripts/programs that would let you auto-dump entire folders of content to a thread over the course of a half hour or so. This attracted a lot more users. It was truly a golden age for content, and by coincidence there were also no celebthread obsessors. A trifecta that we will never again see.

You guys seriously are acting as if pre-celeb invasion /hr/ was the greatest board in the history of the universe and celeb stuff is ruining the board. Be real, it was painfully slow, but about the same in quality. The only thing the celeb threads brought is more traffic. That's literally it. In a perfect world you'd be seeing more non-celeb threads, maybe a 50-50 split, but the reality is there is less interest for that stuff as is reflected by thread numbers which makes sense considering just how slow this board was before the celeb stuff. In other words, there isn't any less non-celeb threads, haters are basically playing their "stop liking what I don't like card".

As a "celebtard" though, I would like the two separated. The traffic would likely slow for both boards, but I can't see why that is a bad thing. A celeb-centric board with it's own stickied threads or moderation might save ALL other boards some strife. How many celeb threads today on /b/? What percentage of the images were unique to the previous? What the fuck is a "mommy universe"? these are problems for /cel/ to figure out.

This, but stutterfag could have his own thread on /cel/. So could the Katy Perry jerkoff-bros. they could be contained in their own mentally deficient sphere while the rest of us oggle Salma Hayek's tits and discuss which pics of Jeanette Mccurdy are legit and which are fakes.
>>
>>2750332

This. It would also take the gossip threads from and /tv/ and give them a place so they don't get deleted/reposted 5 times a day. It's not just /hr/.

I can't think of a reason why there isn't already a /cel/ board on 4chan. For fuck's sake, there are dedicated pokemon and my little pony boards here.
>>
>>2750341
Pony shit was a HUGE problem all across 4chan.

Similarly /v/ was flooded with pokeshit whenever something new in pokemon happened, and /v/ is a big board. The cel shit seems like a minuscule problem in comparison.
>>
Am I the only one here that enjoys both aspects of /hr/?

I come here for both high resolution pictures of celebs, and of other kinds of stuff. If a new board gets made that would just be an inconvenience for me, as i'd have to frequent yet another board.

>>
>>2750343

>>2750342
Things would probably be better off with a celeb board, but 4chan is famously non-interventionist and therefore nothing is going to happen.
>>
>>2750343
I enjoy both aspects too, however I do see the merit of separating. /cel/ could have a lower minimum file size and open to other file formats. A non celeb /hr/ would be more focused on background images and art.

You can still visit both boards.

>>

Not to mention threads wouldn't always be deleted. There are actually decent celeb-related threads on /tv/ that get deleted because the janitors are shit.

>>
>>2750001
Pretty much this.

What happens to /hr/ if the celeb threads leave? It totally stagnates and dies. The fact of the matter is that the celeb posters are the only ones who are actually significantly using the board. The non-celeb threads that do exist with an interested following last for quite a while (much longer than most other boards), and are generally left alone to their own devices: you don't get celeb posters complaining about the non-celeb threads. This is about as peaceful as a board dominated by one type of content can be.

Creating a /celeb/ board isn't an ideal solution. Or, at least, *as a single action*, it's not the best solution. Because all it means is (1) you kill /hr/, and (2) you create a /celeb/ board that doesn't really fulfill the same purpose of the /hr/ celeb threads.

If you want to talk about splitting boards up to consolidate content, you might want to think more broadly - for example, you might consider merging the wallpapers boards with /hr/. Moar boards is not always the best solution.

>>2750034
>and it's like this all the time and has been for more then a year.
A massive understatement. It has pretty much *always* been like this. /hr/ has been significantly a celeb based board since well prior to 2010. This is part of the reason why these threads are kinda pointless - this is the status quo, this is the way the board has naturally developed over the better part of a decade. There are complainy "too much celebs!" posts every other month, and yet despite there being no real barrier, these same people rarely ever try to actually post good non-celeb content themselves.

At the end of the day, the solution is simple - if you want more interest in non-celeb threads, actually put some effort into creating interesting and well maintained non-celeb threads. Otherwise, "stop posting stuff *I* don't like", as these threads usually devolve into, isn't helpful.

Maybe you weren't aware, but Hiro said on /QA/ after people complained about lack of moderaqtion transparency and moderators listening to want users want that each board could create 1 meta thread to disscuss rule changes or moderation concerns they have and the threads would get looked over

I assumed that that's what this thread is for /hr/

>>2751605
Maybe, but these kinds of threads on /hr/ aren't rare at all. They pop up every other month, and the outcome is always exactly the same - people suggest that the complainers start up and maintain their own non-celeb threads ... but they never do.

>>2751606
>Calling bullshit. I remember when /hr/ didn't have celeb shit or it was a small minority and it worked fine.
The fact of the matter is that /hr/ has been celeb dominated since at least the late 2000s. This is the "culture" that the board has naturally gravitated towards. As has already been pointed out, the celeb posters are not hostile to the non-celeb threads, so there's no argument to be made to say that people can't happily post non-celeb threads. The fact of the matter is that people simply aren't interested in doing so.

Or, what, are you arguing that if the celeb content was banned, /hr/ would suddenly start to fill up with non-celeb content? Even *with* the celeb stuff it's a very slow board. As long as you can post non-celeb stuff without any hostility, what's the point in changing anything?

Playing devil's advocate: I'm sure the over-abundance of celeb threads makes the board *look* more autistic than it might otherwise would (but, hey, this is 4chan, this is hardly the worst the site has to offer), and that this might lead to reduced interest from non-celeb folks ... but even *this* is reaching.

As I've been saying in these threads for literally the better part of a decade now: if you want more non-celeb threads, create them and maintain them yourself. Don't just try to pull the "other people are posting content *I'm* not interested in - change the rules!" routine.

I like /hr/ the way it is, but I would also love a /cel/ board.
>>
>>2751610
Quite a bit of this is just incorrect.

Before the SNSD threads there were zero celeb threads. SNSD weren't famous until 2009 and I wouldn't be surprised if the threads weren't in /hr/ until 2011.

Up until about two years ago celebs were less than half the threads here. It is only this year that it has reached over 3/4ths as rhe /hr/ regulars who do not care about celebs have left one by one

The only argument against a split is /hr/ would be slow. How about we try it and see? It will take a bit to rebuild but the regulars before the celeb takeover made /hr/ an incredible place.

I've been on /hr/ since the late 2000s, and there have always been celeb threads here as far as I remember. There may have been less of them earlier on, but they were always a significant fraction of the board.

>Up until about two years ago celebs were less than half the threads here.
This is outrageously incorrect. /hr/ has been celeb dominated for much longer than the last two years. I'm willing to grant some faulty memory or confirmation bias on what fraction they made up prior to 2011, but certainly in the last 5 years they've been the dominant content.

Regardless ...

>The only argument against a split is /hr/ would be slow.
The main argument against the split is that it would be largely pointless. That /hr/ would be incredibly slow is just one of the side effects.

/hr/ is not hostile to non-celeb threads. If people actually want more non-celeb content, there is literally nothing stopping them from posting it. The board is slow enough that, even WITH the celeb content, it's difficult for any given thread to 404 without a day or more of inactivity. More than enough for even the least dedicated 4channer to keep it bumped.

This isn't a "problem" that requires mod intervention. It requires the people who WANT non-celeb content to actually POST non-celeb content. And they're just not doing it.

>It will take a bit to rebuild but the regulars before the celeb takeover made /hr/ an incredible place.
The issue is that /hr/ isn't an inherently themed board. There are very few people who want to hang around for "high resolution" content of totally random topics. Back when there was more non-celeb content, those threads were just their own little islands used primarily for linking high resolution content back to other boards. This is why the /celeb/ folks were able to form a more cohesive community here, whilst the /hr/ "community" was easily overrun. This is why I'm skeptical that removing the celeb content will actually speed the board back up.
>>
>>2751209
> you don't get celeb posters complaining about the non-celeb threads
Comments in this thread suggest otherwise.
>>
All you have to do is use the pleb archive site to see any random day in 2013 celeb threads were maybe a third of new threads. 2014 it gets to half.

But I thank you for admitting the celeb crowd moved in and took over /hr/.

Oh and fwiw "least dedicated" do not show up once a day every day to make sure their thread didn't get dropped.

>>
>>2752666
>doesn't read the multiple posts stating that /hr/ was a healthy board before the celebshitposting
I think you might have missed my point.

>acts like the celeb content is the lifeline of this board, a board that was better off without said cancer
Except I've never said that, nor do I believe that to be the case.

This is the /hr/ board. There's no rule stating that celeb content can't be posted here, or vice versa. Nobody is breaking any rules, some vocal minority is just upset because content *they* don't like has become the majority.

But the entire point is that there is literally nothing stopping people from posting non-celeb content. Even if we grant *everything* else that has been stated in this thread, this point alone still renders the argument moot. The celeb content isn't the "lifeblood", it's simply the case that nobody seems interested in posting anything else. They can, but they don't. This is *their* issue, not the celeb-poster's.

"The board has naturally evolved to its current equilibrium, and the majority of users seem to be happy with it (these occasional threads are the only real drama that occur here) ... but *I* want to see different content, and despite there being literally no barrier to this content being posted/maintained by myself or others, I'd prefer if the mods/admins instead banished the current user base elsewhere."

^^ That's what your side is arguing. That's what's been argued continuously for years. And in all that time, none of them have bothered to put their money where their mouth is by starting up and maintaining a core group of interesting non-celeb threads. It's just straight to the "MODS FIX IT FOR ME!!" play.
>>

But there IS something stopping people from posting good, well rounded /hr/ content. It is called celebrity threads that aren't even high res pushing all the good content off the board and causing good contributors to give up and leave because the nice place they once had is now a wasteland of fap material. Again, please read the content before you post redundant arguments, as this was already addressed

What I find interesting is that having a celeb board should make both groups happier. Turns out the celeb posters really aren"t happy unless they are annoying others.

/hr/ will never be a proper /cel/ substitute because you are forced to post images that are unnecessarily yet delightfully large.

Before you could post images that were for example 1280x888, but they upped it a few years back. Post anything that isn't super large, and the system just wont allow you to post it.

Not every new hot celeb image is available in high res when released, and resizing is looked down upon, and in some cases even deleted.

/cel/ would essentially allow you to share images of all sizes .

I'd like to point out that the celeb threads have, in a number of cases, pushed incredibly content rich (albiet fairly long-lasting) threads that had a lot more to be had off the board, which is totally unacceptable and unnecessary. I have the misfortune of being able to remember /hr/ before the celeb influx and it was close to being my favourite board. I want that back.

honestly the only reason I use /hr/ is for celebs, and when I want to see quality pictures that aren't porn I guess theres only a few quality threads here. /cel/ would consolidate that and make it MUCH better

>why don't you bump

Wow, wow, wow... Are you telling me to go to Google, Flickr or Bing and search for high resolution and high quality images that haven't been already posted to bring the thread back from being buried in the same pictures of your wet dreams' ladies?

Yeah, I have plenty of fucking pictures I don't want to share because I want this board to remain slow and shit.

>you don't ever contribute to the board

I can fucking tell how many threads I have made and kept going for weeks all on my own.

>you don't even take your own references.

Does anybody know though, why the hell every paparazzi photographer decides having the most massive resolution camera for a badly lit and unflattering picture is apparently a smart purchasing decision?

>>2765697

The big problem I have with /tv/ is you'll have posts serving as containment threads with 200+ replies and it'll get deleted, yet a post with 2 or 3 is allowed to remain and bump something else off the board.

In guess it's a fine line, but show-oriented waifu threads should be allowed. Individual celeb threads, a no-no. There are literally about 5 Jonah HIll threads a day over there and they stay on there.
