You guys need to label your posts.
>>2617765
Also, can anyone identify the unit these men are from? It has already been narrowed down to either 12th SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend or 3rd SS Panzer Division Totenkopf. HJ Division due to young age of the soldiers, or Totenkopf due to the skull and crossbones symbol.
>>2617767
those guys are from the 12th div Hitlerjugend. They fought the brits and canadians at Caen. Totenkopf division was on the eastern front at this time, in Romania precisely.
They just wear a "totenkopf" badge.

this one is tricky.
most of the quotes in russian states that this guy is from the 3rd panzerdivsion Totenkopf and that the pic was taken in Salla, Finland in spring 1941.
That is partially true imo.
This guys is a genuine SS (see the skull on his collar), and the totenkopf div. was not in Finland at that time but stayed in the baltic states (in Lithuania and Latvia) when ordered to join the Group North which was tasked with advancing on Leningrad on operation Barbarossa, launched in june 1941.
However ,a SS division, the 6th SS Division 'Nord' was in Salla at that time, during the 'Continuation War' the old town of Salla was on the Soviet side of the border. The German along with finnish troops attacked the soviets (operation Polarfuchs)
In conclusion, this pic, imo, is a soldier of the SS div. Nord, and not from Totenkopf div.
>>2623525
As far as I know, only the totenkopf div. used the horizontal skull patch tab, and KZ men used the vertical skull patch tab.
>>2621321
>>2623525
alright, i'm gonna correct myself about this pic:
After the 1940 Norwegian Campaign, Hitler did not want units of the Wehrmacht (regular army) to guard the new border between occupied Norway and the Soviet Union, created when Stalin annexed northernmost Finland, so he decided to send units of the SS-Totenkopfverbände (SS-TV) formed from concentration camp guards.
The choice was the SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 9 led by SS-Obersturmbannführer Ernst Deutsch.
During the spring 1941, two new Standarten (Regiments) arrived: the SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 6 and SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 7. The SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 6 and 7 were transferred to the 6th SS-Gebirgs-Division 'Nord' (6th SS Mountain Division 'Nord').
Conclusion: this is genuinely a SS from the SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 6 or 7 attached to the 6th SS division 'Nord', at Salla, Finland, spring 1941.

Fun fact about this particular picture - it is an example of early editing the Russians did in order to control their public image. The soldier on the bottom has two wrist watches - one on each hand - which was evidence for the looting the Soviet army did as they swept through Germany. In the edited version only one can be seen.

Fake photos were common back then aswell. People just weren't aware of them and unfortunately many people today aren't aware how commonplace they were.
>>2656547
Fun fact: Hitler could have met Churchill in 1932 at the invitiation of Hanfstaegl when Churchill visited Berlin out of curiosity about this popular National Socialist movement that was gaining ground across the continent but Hitler stood him up and Churchill refused to ever meet him again. Its believed it was one of the reason Churchill refused Hitlers many peace offers during the war. Remember Britain declared war on Germany and not the other way around.
A lot of people don't know the name Ernst Hanfstaengl but you should. He was a chief proponent of Hitlers PR team and was the creator of the Sieg Heil chant. His influence in the political and business industries of Britain and the USA allowed the National Socialists to gain funding and political support from followers there including Henry Ford.

A. How to help a live stranded torpedo
1. Send for help. The most important thing is to seek out an expert to help. Many countries have "strandings networks" of experts who are specially trained in how to deal with stranding emergencies and have veterinary specialists associated with them. Their involvement will help to ensure that the stranded individuals are treated kindly and appropriately.

it states 6 of the crew died, there are 12 active positions in a B-24 (nose gun, bombardier, navigation, pilot, co-pilot, flight engineer, top turret, radio, ball turret, left waist gun, right waist gun, and tail gun) typically it's a 10 man crew in any Liberator... as they didn't all get out there's a small possibility tail gunner may have survived if a crushed spine counts...
