I kept hearing that Blue is The Warmest color was supposed to only be chapters 1&2 of the 4 part full story. Idk if 3&4 deals with different characters or even if it's even true but I'm hoping it happens.
Same as the alleged "extend version" that has scenes that were cut to get the time down to 3 hours.
Pretty sure it includes the standard "I have no daughter" scene where Adele's parents catch the girls in bed together. This would explain why her parents vanish in the 2nd half of the film.
"Exarchopoulos" haha

there will be no 3 or 4th parts. the french movie just made a random decision to change the name of the movie from the comic and at the end saying parts 1 and 2.
also there wont be an extended version, there just were a bunch of scenes that were cut. the scene with the parents getting angry was cut because they wanted to focus on the love between two characters, instead just making another movie about gay love.

I heard that excuse for the deleted scenes too. I don't know if the director or writer themselves claimed that was the reason but it doesn't hold water.
Not after the movie dedicates a huge chunk of time to Adele being ostracized by her friends at school when they discover her hanging out with a lesbian.
I think a more likely reason is the film was 3 hours long WITHOUT that scene already. Like the way Tarantino removed the lap dance scene from the Death Proof section of Grindhouse and replaced it with a "Reel Missing" message as if it was a creative decision and not just an attempt to shorten the runtime to 3 hours.

Also why that excuse sounds fishy is the decision to focus more on the romance and not on the lesbian aspect of the story is one that's better made in the writers room not the editors room.
Because now her parents disappear halfway through the film and it doesn't make sense when she says something along the lines of "but I have nowhere to go" when she gets kicked out during the standard second act break up.
