Oh I know...but that doesn't mean that some interesting characters who are totally "not gay" have popped up on my Grindr and Planet Romeo here. I have been on a one-night stand with a politician AND a minor but charting singer. This is not bragging - it is a country of 7 million people, so the gay pool is not large, and if you are not bad looking you can pretty much work your way through the eligible population quickly.

What I am saying is, I have a 15-20% certainty that this was Kostov's profile. It did disappear after he won the Bulgarian place in Eurovision (he only spent time in Bulgaria to become eligible to represent the country). It was either him or a very elaborate, well-timed hoax.

BTW since you sound like you're from there: I'm planning a trip to Romania and Bulgaria for the summer (if plan fails, next summer). I feel like enjoying the seaside rather than visiting the inland: the Danube delta and Constanta in Romania are on my radar. Do you have any recommendations on the Bulgarian seaside? Historic cities to visit? Cool places to check out? I'm French and I've never been to the Black Sea.

As for Bulgaria, awesome (he is half Bulgarian, but spent most of his life in Russia; other half is Kazakh).

I would recommend Varna out of the big cities, it has a good nightlife and is pretty enough in the centre. North of there go see the botanical gardens and summer residence in Balchik, and the Kaliakra cape. Eat at the "Dulboka" mussels farm near to Kaliakra.

Then go south, skip Burgas - the other big city, it is pretty industrial. Visit Sozopol out of the coastal ancient Greek cities. Then go towards the Turkish border for seaside stuff, Sinemoretz, Tsarevo - those villages are great. The Silistar beach between them is beautiful. You can also use that to go into the Strandzha mountain which is near the coast and straddles the BG-Turkish border. It is beautiful.

The first is in Russian, second in Bulgarian. He sings in both (and English, obv). His Bulgarian, when talking, is kind of funny, accented - but also...well, stereotypically gay for Bulgaria.
