The media love to conflate the attraction for the young but sexually mature, which is actually a very common mammalian trait, with sexual attraction to the sexually immature which is much more rare and has some pretty seriously negative implications, hence the blanket use of the term pedo for anybody attracted to anyone under the age of 20, or in the case of the Americans who are compulsively legalistic in their understanding of everything, anyone under the age of 18. These people would apparently fail to consider that most of their distant ancestors who were typically married at the age of 14 to 16 would have been pedophiles, hence they are descended from a long line of pedophiles.
