They were right for the wrong reasons. Neither side spends a lot of time thinking about the nature of the positions they forward, so both tend to be full of shit.

They were right in that men who enjoy participation in homosexuality are not normally inclined towards committal relationships. By normally, I am talking about numbers, not subjective judgements.

However in the overall theme of demonization of one group to advert attention from the failure to enforce their own internal standards, they cite this as a flawed aspect of the group, not what the biology of the group is.

The more typical a male is, by definition of what the norms of masculine behavior is, the less likely he is going to want monogamy, even if he intellectually believes or is conditioned to want it. Monogamy is, after all, an artificial social abstract, where the effects of male biology, especially in youth, are a very real, tangible thing.

Its not technically a flaw. People dont realize that if you subtract one part of male traits, it affects the rest and eventually you end up with a failing model, at least failing by some definition, however subjective. Put another way, if all males were typically monogamous in their hearts, we would either not consider them masculine or have a different view of what masculinity is. And that would be a circuitous argument except that ultimately, there is physical, neurological aspects of what constitutes a male, and we either have to accept or reject that...

My point was that the fundies were sort of right about the vice of homosexuality being somewhat incompatible among males who are biologically constituted with male drives seeking the same. But its not exactly because they are homosexual, but because homosexuality among males is by definition males seeking males. To the fundie, its a matter of character of the homosexual, in reality its a matter of male behavior compounded by male behavior. They are similar, but not etiologically identical.
