Think of it like this, the Finnish border with Russia consist(ed) almost only of lakes and woods, with a few more developed places where guerrilla warfare could not be waged so easily.
So what did the general do?
He invaded Finland over every possible part of the border, entering woods with shitty roads that was perfect for ambushes.
In the middle of the winter carrying olive green summer uniforms to that.
All this while ignoring the more developed areas, because he was afraid of the defence line the Finns had.
Finland got BTFO later when the Soviets changed their general who discovered the defense positions was so far away from each other a tank could go in right between them without getting hit.
But then everyone went full homo for Finland so Stalin couldn't annex it.
