However he blew all his chances and potential by refusing to compromise with the older more Conservative elements of his party, instead exiling himself from his natural political home; to ally himself with the fringes of British politics where even there he didn't belong and was never truly accepted

The rise of the USSR and the spread of Leninism is the defining feature of the 20th century.

Without the USSR, we likely would have never got WW2, we would never have had the Cold War, Social Democracy and the Welfare state likely never would have taken hold in the west.

History would be completely different.

As much as faggot /pol/fags hate to admit it, Lenin is the defining politician of the 20th century. He literally defined all politics and most global geopolitics after him.

Not even a contest. I can't think of another figure who did as much in as humane a way as he did. You can make your case for all sorts of 20th century leaders doing bigger things (i.e. Deng, Stalin, Lenin, etc.) but you aren't going to find one with as defined of principles as Mustafa.
