In your opinion, how important is the printed book in the 21st century?
Keep in mind these points:
>Technological alternatives
>Practical advantages
>Educational issues
>>
Books>alternatives.

I honestly think books will be entirely phased out in 50 years. There's just such an advantage to e-book readers and electronic storage. I can store literally 100,000 books on my harddrive, and already such a harddrive is every mans property. Universities and schools will just issue every student an e-book reader, or similar device, instead of books.

I just skimmed that article.

Thought police can't remotely deny me access to a physical book. Also lasts longer than digital storage.

Probably, but remember that some people (like me) will always prefer to buy a physical copy of a book because muh nostalgia, even if the digital is more convenient. It will probably go like vinyl.

Personally, I highly doubt books will ever be phased out. Most readers that I know personally prefer books to screens because of lights, plus people enjoy owning an actual copy of the book for collection purposes.

Maybe, but I still own a physical copy of every book I like. I get tired of looking at a screen after having to for 12 hours straight per day, and it's just nicer to be able to flip the pages myself. Plus, dat book smell, both old and new.
