Why is Jerusalem considered sacred to Muslims? I know the significance for Jews and Christians, but what events occurred there that made it the third Muslim Holy City as well?

>lemme google that For You
>Because that's where the dome of the rock is:D
>What is Jerusalem worth? XDDD

Honest and serious answers are allowed as well

It was sacred in a general Abrahamic sense to begin with. The Dome of the Rock was put there for a reason, and not in Damascus or Medina. At some point legends about Muhammad's night journey to the furthest mosque was attributed to the Dome of the Rock, and it gained a mystical reputation among other shrines of Syria and Palestine shared with Jews and Christians.

Other than that, it's not particularly sacred on the level that it is for Jews and Christians, but it happens to be the center of Palestinian spirituality in Jerusalem, which extends to Palestinian nationalism throughout Israel, which then extends to Arab nationalism throughout the Middle East, and then bleeds back into the religion.

That was an excellent answer, thanks anon.

Thread has fulfilled it's objective.

>Understands significance for Jewish/Christians
>Doesn't understand significance for Muslims
>Doesn't know all three religions basically share the same prophets besides their respective "true" prophets and share the same patriarchs.

Are you kidding me senpai?

That anon was actually not really correct. Muslims had Jerusalem as their orientation point to pray towards before Mecca. Why? Because they believe Muhammed ascended to heaven from the rock in the Dome of the Rock.

Now you may /thread.

No, the Qibla was directed at Jerusalem for several years before the Isra, and changed towards Mecca just two or three years after it.

This guy is correct.

When Mohammed (piss be upon him) was just getting started as a false prophet, he claimed to be the latest in the line of Jewish prophets and declared Jerusalem the holiest of holies. Then, he failed to conquer Jerusalem and even worse he was BTFO by the Jews who rejected his authenticity, so he "demoted" Jerusalem by declaring that God had decided Mecca is holier than Jerusalem, and also that Jews are the spawn of pigs.

That's where Mohammed rode a white, winged horse up to heaven.

Mohammed's Night Journey, and that is purely it.
>>
>>870231
pretty much all the reason's why it is sacred in the old testament + Muhammad's night Journey

You forgot the most important part: Mohammed and the early Muslims originally prayed facing Jerusalem, not Mecca.
>>

The most significant even that makes Jerusalem holy to the Muslim faith is that the temple mount is regarded as the spot where Muhammad ascended into heaven.

Also, the Muslims during Muhammad's early years used to face Jerusalem when praying, before the revelation came to switch it to Mecca.

Also, Muslims also regard the Israelite prophets as prophets of God and the Qur'an speaks extensively on Solomon and the building of the Temple in Jerusalem. So to the degree that the city is associated with these figures and contains sacred sites connected to them, it is regarded as blessed by God/Allah. The Israelite prophets while not the only prophets are seen as exceptional on the grand stage of history.
>>
Muslims believe Muhammad's bullshit claim that he flew there in one night on a horse with a human face. And no one saw it. And no one can question the Quran.

Correct
