It was probably the right choice during the Korean War, most Koreans supported either the north or the anarchosyndicalist situation they had before the US said "this looks awfully much as if the people are organizing themselves to live in a peaceful commune. WE HAVE TO STOP THIS" and instated the horrible south Korean government.
