We have loads of pic everywhere.
What do they mean? I'm in Northern England on the border with Scotland. There are loads of these stones. And they're ancient. Dated to Iron Age.

They are what's called Pictish cup and ring markings and they are all over the UK.
As to what they mean, I'm sure your guess is as good as anyone elses

In Finnish paganism there are several "sacred" stones found all over Finland. Some of them have some carvings and some of them only small holes in it. Usually they are found near old farming sites.

The function of these was pagan offerings. Different kind of wheat, beer, grains etc. were left to the holes for nature spirits and for different functions. Rainwater collected from the holes was believed to cure diseases etc.

Also evil spirits were driven to the holes etc.
