What made post-war America (late 40's through the early 60's) so much better than now? Crime was lower, standard of living was higher, Americans had more money, etc.

Enormous government spending. WW2 is essentially what pulled the US out of the depression. After the war, with Europe and Japans industries all fucked up, the US was the primary manufacturer for many goods for quite a while. This brought jobs, and prosperity. During times of great prosperity, the crime rate goes down.
People can find jobs and are less likely to turn to crime to support themselves.

You're correct, I'm not American and fucked up the dates, although the Mexicans did have border disputes with America around their own civil war/revolution. There were threats of getting Mexico to join the war against America, but that was never serious.
Point stands, America walked away from both great wars without a single foreign troop on their land. Meanwhile Germany was fucked, France was fucked, Italy still is fucked, Britain was vicariously fucked and no one was dealing with the Russians. Zero competition plus war bonds means America completely dominated the world economy and that effect is still being felt today.
Don't get me wrong though, better the yanks than the chinks. A China dominated west Pacific is not in my best interest, these people typically have a low opinion of whites.
Otherwise, keep believing the fading cries of American baby boomers screaming "we're number one!"

I like the pictures though, keep posting em! I've never seen pictures from the 50s in color. It entirely changes my perspective about the era. It makes it feel so much alive and immediate. I liked black and white photos but the color is really spectacular for getting a feel for the era too. Tells you that much more about the fashion, styles and preferences of people of the time

Crime is lower today per 100k than it was in the 50's. Crime is actually at an all time low in terms of percentages, it's just hard to notice because our population is so much bigger.

People made far less money in the post-war period than today. It only seems like they had a higher standard of living when you compare it with the pre-war years. Also, the vast majority of post-war families actually had MORE debt compared to income than today.

More total money as a percentage of world share, but people got less of a cut than they do today. Seriously, most people in the post-war period were not rolling in dough, they just took out shit tons of loans in order to make it seem so.
We are better off today than people in the post-war period, it just doesn't seem like it because people have a tendency to focus on the negatives and broken parts of out civil systems rather than how well shit actually works. Not saying life in the US is perfect, but it is better than it was.
I also can't be assed to find sources so take all this with a spoon of salt.

Hispanics aren't counted as a separate race on the census. Whites are just divided into non-hispanic and hispanic white. We're 63% non-hispanic white currently but to be fair a large amount of hispanics are upwards of 80% white and they will be completely absorbed into the white population in a few generations.
America is going through a demographic shift , but it's not as drastic as the figures might suggest. African-Americans, for example, generally have 20-30% European admixture, whereas vice-versa it could not be further from the truth, besides white americans generally have extremely small traces of Native blood.

Actually. Statistics show that crime, wealth per capita, life expectancy, and quality of life has never been better for most of humanity including Americans then now. The reason post-war America has the reputation as the golden age of the country is because relative to the rest of the world this was America's height.
The rest of the developed world was absolutely decimated from the war and other nations were to poor to compare to us. We were at our absolute height in relative power. Before the soviet union stole our nukes we could have done whatever we wanted and no one could have realistically stopped us.

Most hispanics are swarthy and brown because they are mestizos. White mexicans are much less.
If anything it's the complete opposite. Even in Mexico, the white population is declining and starting and more breeding with mestizos is starting to occur.
