Within this book lies 95%+ of everything you will ever need to know about life.
>>
I am a Stoic.
>>
>>4947
take it to /lit/
>>
>>5457

Sorry this is also a humanity like that "discipline" history
>>
>>5520

Yes, but that is /lit/ material you posted. Sorry, but you lost.
>>
1. I am a Stoic (albeit not a very good one).

2. Epictetus' Enchiridion is better, in my opinion.
>>
Marcus Aurelius was a Zeitgeist-y pseudo-wiseman whose writings could just as well appear on some stupid "Inspirational" Facebook page
>>
>>5593

Nope, it's philosophy.
>>
>>5716

Objectively false, but thanks for sharing those hot opinions anyway.
>>
>>5716

Yeah I agree.
>>
>>5855
Very few Romans were great thinkers, they were too comfortable. Now Cicero, that is an example of a truly principled man who faces life and duty head-on.
>>
>>5975
How do you feel about Epictetus?
>>
>>5716
You obviously have no understanding of the subject if you think his writings were meant to be "inspirational"
>>
because stoicism in a comfortable environment is like tearing down a ships sails in perfect weather

stoicism is reserved for stormy weather and living situations only
>>

>tfw met with the busybody today
just kept on keepin on too desu
>>
>>6033
I didnt say they were, im saying the essence is the same
>>
Epictetus is based.
Auerelius is too esoteric, you don't really get actual reasoning from him.
To be fair, his writings weren't meant to be read by other people. Epictetus was a lecturer
