'The Picture Gallery of the Nations', 2nd ed., 1874. It's a ethnographic work published by the London-based 'Religious Tract Society'. I scored a copy from a used book sale for a buck, which was a deal I'm quite pleased with.

I assume said society belonged to a hardline Protestant sect, because this book has a section on Italians in general, a section on Venetians specifically, and another section on Romans, wherein it is reported that modern-day Rome still houses some interesting historical artifacts, but
