Here we talk about the longest losing streak in /His/tory
What went wrong for the Americans, every single fucking time?

Butthurt incoming

>What went wrong for the Americans, every single fucking time?
Ameriniggers can't touch the North. Thats it really.
They can bomb it.
They can black ops it.
But the moment they invade it, China and Russia will go apeshit and turn Vietnam into another Korean War style disaster.
So they can't plug the source of the guerillas, the attacks on the South, because they're afraid of escalation.
Not because North Vietnam or the Vietcong are master guerillas or something.

>During the Sino-Russian split Russia and China would agree on fighting a war 3000 miles away.
Mao had most of his troops deployed in Amur dumbass. They were at war with Russia.
>>474285
Threat of escalation. We were more than capable of turning these nations to glass.
The Viet Cong and the PLA were all pretty much light infantry then. All armor and air support came from Russia.
>>474307
>they can't plug the source of the guerillas
The source of the guerillas was the RVN's policies.
I think you mean mainline divisions after 1968 and most mainline units prior to 1968.

>The Viet Cong and the PLA were all pretty much light infantry then. All armor and air support came from Russia.
The PLAF in 1963-65 had sufficient organic support in Provincial mainline units to take on airmobile and armour from the ARVN. (Ap Bac)
The 1967 and 1968 offensives (Khe Sanh, Tet 1 Tet 2 Tet 3) involved organic artillery support, hardly "light" infantry.
The 1972 and 1975 offensives were armoured.
South Vietnam should have won that war. Then the South would've annexed the north, We'd have a consistent ally in east asia, we'd open up trade, and bring Vietnam to the level Japan and South Korea is today.
>>474401
>Bring Vietnam up
it would be at the same level as Burma dumbass. Americans did nothing for sk and Jp. Internal merchantalist policies fostered that.
>Soith Vietnam should have won
Shoulda coulda woulda . That's bullshit broski.
>>474397
In all cases but the last, they were rather ineffectual since there was American air support.
And again, most of that stuff was granted by the Russians.
>>474348
>I have no idea of the PLA Commanderies
Furthermore the Chink-Ivan split went into full swing in the 70's. 60's they were still a couple. A bad one, but still a couple.
>>474371
>Threat of escalation.
>WE COULD BUT WE WEREN'T SCARED, WE HOLDIN BACK, MURRCA.
Tough talk, why didn't you then :3?
>>474371
>We were more than capable of turning these nations to glass.
