Okay can we talk about how amazing Nazi/Fascist architecture was without devolving into stormfront?

Pic related, the cathedral of light was incredible. I would give anything to just be there, to witness the energy of the Nuremberg rallies under the powerful, radiant glow of the searchlights.

Seriously, who wouldn't be moved walking up to this? Seeing that giant swastika defiantly scraping the sky?

I like the nazi architecture but this photo never really looked that great to me

>blocks and domes

Albert Speer was truly revolutionary.
>>
>>408107
yeah, I get the impression no one would really use those sky roads and it reminds me a bit of the millenium dome
>>
I like Nazi architecture too, but its clear that your boner for National Socialism extends to a lot more than just the buildings.

Can we talk about how fascist music was so good? I know it's not exactly the same, but maybe it's related enough

True, even commie songs by Italians are good, but fascist music just has something about it that's really beautiful imo
>>
Hitlers plans for Berlin were pretty amazing, wonder if they were possible
>>

True

There's something very inspirational about the tune of these songs, like a call to retake nostalgic glory.
>>
>>408197
>>408178
I'd argue that that's true for most militaristic songs
>>
I'm fascist-leaning and all of this looks like absolute shit. Literally just ugly slabs of concrete and making everything as big as possible for no reason.

probably just cannons to be used in a military march or something, if ur talking about those things in front of the arch

Where can one find a good collection of photographs from the Third Reich?

I really like the architecture but it's hard to find any. I especially like photographs of their public housing.

In previous threads there's been some really dope Italian architecture, classically inspired modernist buildings that really evoke a sense of power.

Then of course some autists shat on it because they can't hack anything less adorned than neo-classicism.

Probably not considering how heavy these buildings were to be (muh granite), and the fact Berlin sits on marshy ground

Speer had this massive cylinder of concrete built just to see how it would sink, and the results were not good

Also it cost 400,000 Reichsmarks...at least its still standing
Speaking of which, idk where the German government was going to get the money after a huge war

Finally, I read somewhere that the Volkshalle was too big. The acoustics would be fucked inside, and there was a theory that the condensation would cause clouds/rain to form

>Nazi public housing

This I gotta see
>>
>>408760
Got any to share?

Italian Fascists had an eye for art - like the strong connection to futurism - and Nazi German architecture can get tedious with all the blatant neoclassicism and imposing, stark buildings
>>
>>408175

what the hell was the thought process behind this building?

In August Kubizek's "The Young Hitler I Knew" a large portion of the book describes Adolf's obsessions with architecture. They would walk around Vienna and Linz for hours with Adolf talking how he would change things and then he would draw up plans for new bridges, better housing etc. Kubizek suggested Adolf's enthusiasm was partly the result of both Kubizek and Adolf's siblings dying in infancy in part because of the damp, squalid apartments they were forced to occupy. They stopped seeing each other around the age of about 18, and only 30 years after did Kubizek meet Adolf (then Fuhrer) again in a hotel room after a party speech and he was surprised that Adolf could still remember all the plans he had made and how enthusiastic he still was about the ideas he had in his youth.

Cheeky

>>408945
A shame, maybe he could have been an architect instead of leading Germany into war
I wonder what would happen if Hitler got accepted into that art academy
>>
>>408033
Honestly sometimes they went overkill with the swastika

The swastika loses its strength if you have it even on fucking chair and in the ceiling. It's supposed to be a national symbol, not decoration.
>>

Hitler was a dreamer, not someone very practical. I can personally relate strongly with his love for architecture and wanting to demolish large parts of cities, but Hitler's ideas weren't practical, the soil it was built on wouldn't be able to host the buildings he wanted to build.

Needless to say, it still looked absolutely amazing. If he just stopped using the swastika everywhere like the other anon said it could be 10/10 tier.

Personally I think Oxford street in London is an almost 10/10 street.
