Why were the Japs so autistic about killing themselves

at least they had the decency to understand when they had to fuck off
and some romans too did that https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoicism

Suicide is cowardly
Well at least Nobunaga himself was less autistic about traditions and triggered half the country.
Frequently literally.

>Why were the Japs so autistic about killing themselves
Ritual suicide has been a pretty common thing among many cultures. Romans had ritual suicide for example. In both cases the idea was that, if you had acted shamefully or dishonorably, willingly killing yourself took such balls to do that it effectively negated your dishonor and ensured your family wouldn't be affected by it. In Masahide's case Nobunaga acting like a little shit made him look bad since he was his mentor and since Nobunaga was above his station he couldn't rightly put him in his place. So by killing himself he both removed himself of his failure to properly tame Nobunaga and made a statement to Nobunaga that his behavior caused a loyal retainer to kill himself. By all accounts Nobunaga felt at least some contrition over this and calmed down a bit.
