Possibly if there was a more liberal government in office, but realistically once the British made the decision to fight for the islands there was nothing the Argies could do. The regime was teetering on the brink of collapse as it was, and the whole point of invading the Falklands was to try to score an easy victory with which to distract the populace and hold onto power. Plus, they lacked the logistical capacity to defend the islands. Even without Stanley knocked out for fast-moving jets, the Argies would find their men stranded and slowly starving from a British naval blockade if the Brits didn't liberate the islands as fast as they did.

Argentina did not want a war at all. Galtieri was brain-dead retarded, he had seen India take over Goa from the Portuguese some years before, and assumed he could pull off the same stunt and the British would just roll over like the Portuguese did.

Of course, Britain was not Portugal, but a major player that could proyect power globally.
And Argentina was not India, but a relatively rich dictatorship that did not have the capacity to generate international sympathy the way a developing democracy like India could.

Argentina was unprepared for a conflict:

1. The Navy was extremely anglophile and against the war from the get go. After the Belgrano was sunk, they simply refused to leave port and told the rest of the military to fuck off.
2. The army was unprepared, the troops on the islands were conscripts with little training, while the elite troops remain posted on the border with Chile.
3. The air force was the only branch that pulled a good job, sinking several British ships. But even they had to struggle with a lack of radar support, incomplete weapons deployment (there were few exocets and Super Etendards delivered as France withdrew shipments), and stretched fuel range from the mainland.
4. Interbranch rivalry was rife.

Nobody in the leadership expected a war to actually happen.

IF (and this is a huge if) Argentina had done the following it might have had a chance:
1. Wait a few years until all exocets and Super Etendards were delivered by France.
2. Use elite troops posted on Santa Cruz rather than just conscripts.
3. Go all out with the Navy and sink British supply ships.
4. Fortify the islands.
5. Forget their ideological fears and seek Soviet support.

These are all huge ifs, the truth is that it was a retarded gamble that went wrong, by a braindead government trying to score a cheap political victory. that did not have the stomach for a full blown war.

Argentina had a very respectable military, its own aircraft carrier, German submarines, the latest aircraft (Super Etendards entered production in 1979, the war was in 1982), the latest missile systems, and was the major regional power along with Brazil.

Venezuela is a failed state that lacks fuel to fly its planes, no naval power, its army in shambles, an imploded economy, and is basically a Cuban colony.
