Hmm... I guess on second thought, "Hellenize" basically means the same thing as "spread Greek culture to". Oh well, interesting historical period anyway. I wonder how backwards the Italian natives were compared to the Greek colonists. Must have been some interesting brew of cultures there around where Phoenicians, Greeks, and Italians all interacted.

I think spreading greek culture in this context means shit like native italics starting to associate their native gods with greek gods with roughly the same role and adopting some the stories related to those gods etc
