Was he a hero or a traitor?
Did he betray the Third Reich?

Himmler objectively did betray them but nobody ever brings that up. Why?
>>3388336
He did it at the end of the war to save his own skin whereas Staffenberg and the others did it in July 1944, when Germany still held onto portions of the Soviet Union and most of continental Europe and did so not necessarily to save themselves (although that was certainly a factor), but to negotiate an end to the war and avoid the needless sacrifice of millions of German lives for a lost cause.

Let's say that they were able to kill Hitler. What would Europe look like postwar?
>>3388599
The same, because the Allies were faggots who hated Prussia since they probably got their asses kicked by them at some point of history.
>a bunch of South Germans and Rhinelanders (Hitler, Himmler, Eichmann, Dirlewanger, Mengele, Globocnik, Kaltenbrunner etc) commit the worst atrocities
>Prussian nobles never liked Hitler because he was a mentally ill pleb, von Hindenburg thought he was a retard, von Saucken referred to nazis as "brown scum", Staffenberg and other Junkers even wanted to assassinate Hitler, many wanted to restore the monarchy
>Allies win the war
>"How do we prevent further atrocities?"
>"LET'S ABOLISH PRUSSIA LMAO"

Best case scenario: Germany would still have to unconditionally surrender, the Allies would accept nothing short of that. But it would be done far sooner and in a more organized manner. You'd probably see at least three results.
-Since the German people threw off Nazi rule themselves, the Allies are significantly more lenient on post-war Germany as a whole.
-The Cold War begins significantly earlier.
-There are significantly more Holocaust survivors as the camps are liberated 6-9 months earlier and handed over by the new German government without resistance (i.e. no attempts to liquidate the prisoners to get rid of witnesses). Likewise, far more perpetrators are arrested in the initial dragnet, as Wehrmacht would likely be ordered cooperate with the Allies and detain SS personnel, thus preventing their melting away into the general populace.

This. Prussia did nothing wrong. I still weep for her every day.

Prussia has always had a bad rap. It's too easy to scapegoat beacuse of its outward, superficial trappings.

It's worked quite well thus far. Not like the commies gave them a choice in the matter, anyway

If they managed to kill Hitler the war would have gone on longer and possibly the Germans would have won. Hitler was a terrible tactician who dismissed his own commanders, if they had someone better in charge they may have been able to win the war.
