Most modern who give a fuck about their ancestry usually do so on the premise of some made up origins.

Once you're in the game of civilisation, you're in an endless circle of rape babbies, humiliation, failures, victors and what-not.
The only ones spared this fate are the people who never joined civilisation to begin with and those care more about their well-being and getting enough food to survive the day rather than making up fancy stories about someone who fucked their grand-...-grandmother spoke some language they don't even understand and was a part of a culture they know absolutely nothing about.
