did america fly bombers over russia evreyday during the cold war?
Don't know about USA, but I do know USSR was doing something like that. Even Russia to this day does it

They fly over international waters actually. They head straight for the enemy territory and turn around just as the border appears, forcing an enemy intercept/escort just in case it's a bombing for real. (On which case the border would be crossed, but the enemy cannot know whether this is the real thing or not until the last second)
The purpose was (is, in the case of Russia that still does it) to test the enemy's reaction times, the time it takes for their fighters to scramble, and also just to fuck around and keep them on their toes.

They didn't fly bomber over the USSR itself, that would be a violation of USSR airspace and the USSR would have a legal justification to shoot them down. The bombers were just on the edge of USSR airspace, always within several hours of their targets (major cities, nuclear launch instalations etc). I don't know or think this was during the entire cold war, probably only during the hottest periods like the 60's.
