Siam fought a brief war with Vichy France over ownership of parts of Indochina which was cut short by a Japanese invasion of Siam. Siam then, not wanting to be annexed and understanding it had no chance against Japan joined them and then would later participate in the attacks on Burma and Malaya and occupied small parts of them. Siam would get very little punishment for the war and was just made to give back the territory it occupied.
Interestingly enough it was during ww2 that Siam became Thailand as the military government changed the name.
