What was it like, living during the Golden Age of Piracy?
depends of you were the pirate or not
nothing like the romanticized image of piracy Hollywood threw at the world
p.s you're living the golden age of piracy, we don't even need to leave our homes to commit it

Weirdly enough it was pretty similar to that romanticized Hollywood image. Most pirates tended to be former British sailors who were usually just poorfags forced into service by the press gangs and then mistreated like subhumans by their commanding officers. They were seen as Robin Hood like figures by the common folk even back then when it was happening, which forced the colonial governors to ban any pro-pirate literature. The pirate life was considered so romantic and adventurous that even some rich people like Stede Bonnet started LARPing as pirates. They also had their own """country""" in the Bahamas which functioned as pretty much a proto-anarchist community: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Pirates
