His smugness with regards to his self-proclaimed position within the "skeptic" community is laughable. He's done some great videos, don't get me wrong. But like Sargon, the quality of his content is going downhill.

The community needs new blood and new ideas.

The community was built around "responding" to the hemegonic ideology, and it was openly seen as an underdog position. It happens that the so called SJW ideology is getting a strong pushback at the moment irl and therefore their core message, becoming somewhat mainstream or at least broadcast at a larger scale, makes their channels less relevant.

To further my point, they've been milking the cow and have provided no new idea or concept to the mix. It's become repetitive and therefore less appealing.

Basically, they've monetize themselves and now are fearing innovation.

People like Peterson somewhat break apart from the cynical, sometimes ironic, and consequently post-modern and deconstructivist approach the "skeptics" have wrought on the SJW ideology. Peterson's bringing in some sympathy towards ideas that were laughed at in the past on the internet, like spirituality. And this novelty is important to the audience.

To conclude my point, the people who've formed the core of their audience, I think, are looking for new things and because the "old" skeptic youtubers are afraid from moving away from their historic cash cow, their repeatitiveness is lowering their quality overall. Especially when latecomers like Bearing or BPS are just in the business to milk that cow.

I agree that Shapiro definitely panders to the religious right. I disagree with Shapiro on several things, particularly social issues and foreign policy, but I like the fact that he will call out both the left and the right on their stupidity, and generally his political analysis is pretty accurate. He was one of the few pundits to actually have a rational take on the whole DACA situation, for example (pretty much nothing is going to change). And even if you have low opinions of pundits in general, which is understandable, he's probably the least unbearable of them all.

I'm just bummed that people in other parts of the country don't get the same advantages people here get. Maybe I'm more of a commie than one realized, because I'm happy to pay 1% more of my income in taxes if it means that people get reduced costs on their Healthcare. The income from taxable pot really helps, I suppose, although the first $70 million annually is earmarked for funding public schools (which, frankly, is a good thing.
