Would this even be feasibly used with one hand? The sheer size seems to necessitate two — one free hand and a small shield strapped to the other maybe?
I wish I'd held off on buying weapons until I knew more about them. My first purchase was this awful reproduction of a spadone that was way too heavy and was terribly balanced and a """functional""" francisca which fell apart as soon as I threw it once at a cardboard target.
Recently I got an antique 1831 Pattern Highland Officer's Sword on the cheap which is pretty cool

Have fun.
Spicing things up with a Sudanese Kaskara.

Pretty sure it's damascus steel

THICC

And it should always be noted that such a practice was used for hundreds and hundreds of years. Somebody I knew who (rightly) hated mall ninja shit called the "wavy" lines in certain reproductions "dumb modern gimmicks to make the blade look cool".
It's been a gimmick to make blades look cool for fucking ever.

It butchers Rome's tuna

went to museum last week
Hermitage brought their weapons exhibition to my city
Swords on picrelated are actually very big, the biggest one is about 1.5m long and it was supposed to be duelling sword too
several knight armours, early guns, shields from all over, chain mails
It was pretty cash

I thought the knowledge of producing Damascus Steel was lost centuries ago?
>>3338160
Are the inscriptions on the blade verses of scripture or hadiths or something?
>>3339728
The precise technique is a bit iffy, but it's basically all wootz (ie. crucible) steel. There are people who make blades out of wootz steal they cook up in homemade forges; you can find any number of videos and documentaries online.
>>3339728
People have been able to reproduce the material. Whether the technique is exactly the same is unknown but the result is pretty much the same.

That's at the NY Met, right? That whole wing is just sex.
>>3338115
That an Albion anon?
>>3339742
Except that Indian iron ore used for wootz also had tungsten in it, which was making tungsten carbide during the process, which contributed to pattern and durability of those fine weapons.

A lot of people will say its a damascus steel blade but really its pattern welding, looks nice though.

nigga like why you thinkin they mutually exclusive like just carry both you have a belt
(also that's a really shitty halberd)
>>3339533
Pretty sure the wavy pattern in Damascus steel was because of the folding and carbon content. Modern reproductions that say they're "Damascus steel" aren't actually Damascus steel but just normal sword with the pattern recreated with pattern welding.
>>3351126
are you talking about wootz( aka crucible steel, aka real damascus steel) or just any generic pattern welded steel?
