>tfw its not Grouchy
>tfw its Prussians
I dont get it
>>3335865
Napoleon hoped for Grouchy to show up at Waterloo but they didn't. Also, he couldn't defeat the british fast enough so Blucher and his prussians showed up instead and decimated them.
Napoleon's fault for letting Blucher escape in prior battles
>yfw Blücher became an embarrassment in his later year cause he suffering from a ghost pregnancy causing him to think he was pregnant with an elephant
>>3337157
>napoleons fault
lmao.
If ANY of his marshalls were 1/2 the commander he was it would have been a different story.
>>3334856
Even if he won at Waterloo it's not likely France would be able to sustain another major coalition war. Napoleon's generalship had also seriously degraded by this point, he was getting sloppy and his enemies were learning how to counter him.
Waterloo is a meme battle
Leipzig is where Napoleon truly lost and a true point of no return
>>3337715
not really. He could have potentially stayed in power as some kind of constitutional monarch.
>>3337785
No chance. He had that opportunity after Tilsit and squandered it. The other European monarchs were completely fed up with Napoleon by Leipzig, especially after the invasion of Russia and how brutally Prussia had been treated.
>>3337569
Wasn't that kinda the point? Napoleon couldn't have anybody out-shining him, so surrounded himself by inferior commanders, where he would always have the upper hand.
>>3337699
Untrue
His six day campaign, arguably one of the most remarkable military feat in history, didnt happen that long ago.
>>3337569
>>3338406
Wrong also, the french generals were for most exceedingly competent compared to their coalition equivalent.
Davout won Auerstaedt and never lost a Battle, for example. Lannes, god bless his soul, was a genius almost on par with Napoléon. So was Lasalle. Ney, for all the hate he gets, was an incredible cavalry commander.
Berthier deserves a mention, although not a real field Marshall of France, he was likely the most important piece in Napoléons army and his death made reorganizing before/during the hundred days Much more complicated, as he was a very talented, experienced and loyal logistician. The Great army certainly didnt lack talented generals, do you think Napoléon became what he was by surrounding himself with idiots?
>>3338479
litearlly only Davout has a record of independant command.
>>3334856
tfw Fuck you.
>>3338867
No. This is fucking bullshit. Why do you even claim this ? This is fucking retarded.
Napoleon isn't a fucking game of thrones character, he didn't teleport through Europe to personally command every single battle fought by France between 1798 and 1815.
>>3337157
Napoleon's fault for not burning Prussia to the ground
>>3334856
Grouchy fucked up, but even had he arrived before Blucher, the war was lost. Europe was never going to tolerate a France under Napoleon again.
>>3334856
>I should have burned Berlin
