Tutsis are on average a foot taller than Hutus. The Rwandan genocide was a beta uprising.

There were probably some Hutus who have narrower features and some Tutsi with more sub Saharan features, but there probably was enough difference to actually enforce the decision to favor one based on the criterion used.

tutsi were mixed with some of the Cushitic peoples (Somali, mostly Oromo) who migrated down and were eventually mixed in with the bantu migration

Oy boy here we go again. The Dutch didn't invent the ethnic divide between the Hutus and Tutsis. It was there before they arrived. During their rule they changed it from being an actual ethnic divide by blurring it to were a Hutu can become Tutsi merely by owning cattle. The divide became so blurred they had to issue id cards and documentation to properly tell who was who.
