A few months ago I started a thread here asking about non-English sea shanties and it went over well, so fuck it: Shanty Thread/his-mu thread.
What are your favorites and what were they for? Who does the best renditions?
I'll start by dumping a few
Flying Fish Sailor/Blow the Man Down, a halyard shanty

Haul Away Joe, Sheet Shanty

Eliza Lee, Capstan Shanty

Soran Bushi, Herring net hauling Shanty

Guerre, guerre, vente vent, French anti-war shanty. If it had an specific task associated with it I haven't found it.

One bump
Friendly bump
Does East Asia have shanties?

Feel stupid now just finding the japanese one.

strangely they seem only to have the one; I did quite a bit of digging and couldn't find any more.
Last thread revealed that France has plenty as might be expected, but otherwise they appear in very few languages other than English. I'm a world music fag, so if anyone knows of any others, please do tell.
In the mean time, here's another rendition of Soran Bushi
