So what else should I base my opinions on? My experience with them has been bad and then every story I've heard of gypsies from non-gypsies has been bad as well. We can only guess that their migration was due to some Ottoman fuckery since they went through their lands. So Turkey probably has the best sources on that but Ottoman sources are generally not researched very well.

My mother used to work for the Immigrants and Nomads office of an European city (now named Social Policies because muh racism). She had to deal with minorities, and this includes gypsies.
Gypsies used to come and occupy a large parking lot or a field. They'd trash the place and break in every house nearby. Then they asked for money to go away. Sometimes they sent a representative to haggle with my mother. She remembers one time they sent a "King of the Gypsies" a guy in a suit with a ton of bling on him and a few golden teeth , who spoke our language perfectly and straight up told her his people don't give a shit about sending their kids to school, find jobs or stop begging and stealing. He said they are a free people and have no interest in living inside society. They are their own society. Then he started asking for money. Of course the city didn't give him any, and sent the police to make them move. They escorted the moving camp to the border of the city and told them to fuck off. From that point, they were the next city's problem. This is standard practice: send the fuckers out of your jurisdiction asap.
The grass field where the camp stood was full of burnt trash and other shit so they paved it over.

I work at a bistro at the main station of my town, there a hundreds of customers.
The worst ones are the gypsies.
They come every day, want something for free and are a pain in the ass in general.
If you give them something for a cheaper price they want more and if you don't give them more, they shout at you.

I hate those fuckers, they are rude, stink and annoy some customers so much that they leave.

I met a gypsy/traveller/romani/hippy kid at primary school, we got on well and he invited me to a hippy festival thing so I told my mom that he was my friend and I needed to go to be popular and she brought me, then he got angry with me for bringing my mom. She bought banana chips from them to cheer me up then we went home. Later we went to (britbong) high school and he quickly got expelled for smoking weed (he was like 12). That was probably why he wanted me alone. Never heard from him again, I think they moved.

He was good at drawing and funny, he wasn't a naturally bad kid. Dare I say it, the leftist meme that they are a product of their environment is partly true. The environment he was raised in was indeed completely out of whack with reality, it was just a completely different existence to my middle class upbringing. While I was playing video games and eating candy in my central heated room after finishing my bath he was smoking weed with adults and dancing around a campfire or some shit.

I get the impression they provide solutions the destitute have to deal with. No rent, no utilities, lots of low income work, the niche exists because doing something to help would look like sanctioning it which would be political suicide. It is easier to forbid evil than to prevent evil.
