The "first woman in space" was in no sense a technological achievement.
Your image also leaves off first pilot-flown spacecraft, first rendezvous, first docking, and some other still-pretty-relevant firsts on the US side.
Not to take anything away from the Soviets - Korolev was a fucking genius, and they did amazing things under the technological restraints they were faced with.
But shit, at least you didn't include idiot "achievements" like yanking the safety equipment wedging an extra seat into a Voskhod and claiming to have built three-man spacecraft.

What a retarded picture. There were no rules, or list of achievements or anything that both sides agreed on. By space race we don't mean literal race. It's a continuous situation and whoever had the edge was winning. And the Soviets were winning it until about 1965/66 until Korolev's death. We could say the race ended with the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project in 1975 and detente.

Doesn't count.

None of it counts because space race was about technological advantage.
Also Eisenhower decided to wait until Soviets send their Sputnik.
